Motorola Moto X Style Quick Camera Review, Photo, Video Samples

After receiving overwhelming response post-release of Moto X Play in India, Motorola finally launched the much awaited Moto X Style to astound the users. Motorola has always been admired by the ‘Moto Lovers’, for its sturdy performance, but they always hoped for a better camera to compliment the power offered in their devices. Moto X Style has received a complete renovation in the camera department. It features a 21 MP camera that changes the whole set-up found in Motorola handsets earlier.

Moto X Style Camera Hardware

The Camera module on Moto X Style is very fresh and updated if compared to its predecessor. For better imaging and seamless picture quality, it has a Sony IMX 230 1/2.4 inch BSI CMOS sensor united with an f/2.0 aperture lens. It is coupled with a CCT (Colour Correlated Temperature) flash which functions quite similar to Apple’s True-tone flash. You can record 4K videos with this camera.

On the front, resides the 5 MP wide-angle camera which is assisted by a soft LED flash to improve the selfies in low light conditions. The camera can also record slow motion video up to 720 p.

Moto X Style Camera Software

The camera app works best for the mobile photographers who love simplicity over control. For rookies, it offers quick and uncomplicated operation. Once you open the camera, which does not take much time, all the features and settings can be accessed through a virtual dial which pops out from the left of the screen.

The exposure and focus cannot be locked, but the tap-to-focus works perfectly if you want to focus on a specific object in the frame. To take a picture, you can tap anywhere on the screen and for burst images you can tap and hold the screen.

Camera Performance

The pictures clicked with this camera show good colour and exposure, in bright light its 21 MP camera captures great amount of detail if compared to existing competitors of this range. Images are clean, least amount of noise level and crisp sharpness.

In low-light conditions the Moto X Style averages the balance between image details and noise reduction quite efficiently. On the other hand, the lack of OIS means this camera may face stabilization issues, something like blur through camera shake is possible in darker conditions.

In terms of color and tone the Moto X Style video output is very close to the the quality produced with still images.
