Gionee Elife E7 VS Elife E6 Comparison Review

Gionee is a manufacturer which was pretty much unknown to Indian consumers a few months back. However, the Chinese maker rose through ranks at a brisk pace and is now on the verge of competing against the largest domestic manufacturer in the country, Micromax. Well, not in quantitative terms, but qualitative.

Two of Gionee’s most recent phones are the Elife E7 and the Elife E6, both of which feature in the premium category of phones. If you’re confused which one you should go for, read on.

Display

The Elife E6 when launched, was Gionee’s first full HD phone. It isn’t tough to guess that the phone has a 5 inch screen, so because such was the trend during the time the device launched. On the other hand, the Elife E7 is a full-fledged phablet with a 5.5 inch screen with the same resolution. This means that the Elife E7 will indeed have pixels packed a bit loosely when compared to the Elife E6. However, the difference will be negligible and most users will not be able to differentiate between densities.

Thanks to reduction in non-usable space, the Elife E7 isn’t as large as you would expect; and is pretty usable in one hand (up to a certain extent). Display wise, it would make sense to go with the Elife E7 at this point in time.

Camera and Storage

The Elife E7 completely sweeps the stakes here with its 16MP main camera. The shooter is touted as the ‘most sensitive mobile sensor’, which indeed is a tall claim and probably enough for the device to be a major hit in a country like India. On the other hand, the Elife E6 comes with a previous-gen 13MP shooter which probably kneels down when put against the 16MP shooter on the E7.

Neither device comes with a microSD slot for expansion. While the Elife E6 does only one 32GB variant, the Elife E7 comes in both, a 32GB and a 16GB variant with a price difference of 3000 INR in between. If you tend to listen to a lot of music or watch a video (and are on a limited budget), you should go for the 32GB Elife E6. Everyone else should make the Elife E7 a prime candidate.

Processor and Battery

Another segment ruled by the Elife E7. The device comes with the Snapdragon 800, touted as the world’s most powerful mobile processor going around. There are two variants that the device features respectively – 2.2GHz with 2GB RAM, and 2.5GHz with 3GB RAM. You also get added 16GB of on-board ROM on the latter. Considering the price difference to only be 3000 INR, this is a no brainer and you should save up for a however long it takes for 3000 INR, and go for the 2.5GHz variant with 3GB RAM. The fact that I did not even talk about the Elife E6 until now shows how much the Elife E7 dominates on the processing segment.

As impressive as the Elife E7 is, one thing Gionee could’ve done better is the battery capacity. Even a layman would’ve wanted atleast 3000mAh of juice, however Gionee provide only a 2500mAh unit which is a bit disappointing. Real life usage of both, the Elife E6 and the Elife E7 would be on par, considering that the Snappy 800 is smart on power management.

Conclusion

Gionee have done a near-perfect job with the Elife E7, and if you have a budget of over 20k and are contemplating between the two Gionee devices, we would suggest you save up for a bit and go for the more powerful, much more advanced Elife E7.
