Moto G5 vs Honor 6X Quick Comparison Review – Which One Is More Value For Money?

After showcasing the Moto G5 and G5 Plus at the MWC 2017 in Barcelona, the Lenovo backed Motorola introduced the Moto G5 in the Indian market recently. The segment which has seen a lot of new offerings recently is quite competent in the present situation. Priced at Rs 11,999, Moto G5 is locking horns against a number of significant smartphones of which one is the Honor 6X. The Huawei Honor 6X is a smartphone with dual camera setup and quite a strong specifications and all this at a price tag of Rs 12,999.

So, let’s see what these two smartphones have to offer to its respective buyers and how one is better than the other in different aspects.

Moto G5 VS Huawei Honor 6X Specifications

Display

Moto G5

Moto G5 has been equipped with a 5.0-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1080 X 1920 pixels. Further, it is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. With a pixel density of ~441 ppi and a ~65.4% screen-to-body ratio, the display is capable of producing decent color scheme with appropriate sunlight legibility.


Huawei Honor 6X

Considering the Huawei Honor 6X, it boasts a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 1080 X 1920 pixels screen resolution. With a 2.5D curve, the phone gets a slightly premium feel, which is a missing point in G5. Honor 6X offers significant viewing experience in sunlight and different viewing angles and is matching the level of most of its key competitors.

Hardware And Storage

Powering the Moto G5 is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 chip-set, which is clocked at 1.3GHz and further coupled to Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone gets 3GB RAM and comes with 16GB internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via microSD. Fueling the Moto G5 is a 2800 mAh battery, which comes with a rapid charger.

Huawei has utilized its own in-house chipset, the HiSilicon Kirin 655. The processor is an octa-core assembly of 4x 2.1 GHz Cortex A53 and 4x 1.7 GHz Cortex A53 with Mali-T830 GPU. The difference between a Qualcomm and HiSilicon chipset can be felt easily while heavy multitasking and gaming. Huawei has offered two RAM options – 3GB/ 4GB and 32GB internal storage with Honor 6X. A battery pack of 3340 mAh ensures better phone life.

Camera

Moto G5

This is the area where most of the manufacturers are trying to improve in a significant manner. Moto G5 has a 13 MP primary camera with phase detection autofocus, dual tone LED flash, and f/2.0 aperture. The camera is further backed with features like Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama, and auto-HDR. At the front, a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture is equipped.

Huawei Honor 6X

Considering the Honor 6X, it features a dual camera setup with 12 MP Sony IMX386 and a 2MP unit. Clearly, in this aspect Honor 6X has much better results than the Moto G5 with its dual camera setup. At the front, it features an 8MP selfie shooter which again gives better results than the G5 setup.

Connectivity

The connectivity options in Moto G5 include 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, FM radio and a micro-USB port.

Honor 6X comes with almost similar options as Moto G5 which include 4G LTE, VoLTE, dual-SIM, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, GLONASS, A-GPS, micro-USB port and an infrared emitter.

Pricing And Availability

Moto G5 is offered at a price tag of Rs 11,999 and is exclusively available at Amazon.in. Whereas, Honor 6X has two variants with price tags – Rs 12,999 and Rs 15,999 and available on most of the popular E-commerce portals.

Conclusion

Both these phones are similar in various aspects. The difference lies between the chipset and the camera setup of both these phones. If you have a preference towards Qualcomm chipset then Moto G5 has it what you are looking for by compromising on the camera front. Whereas, if you wish to have a competent camera setup then Honor 6X is a good option with a choice of two RAMs. But, if you consider the pricing front then, Moto G5 is an affordable option over the Honor 6X.
