Best Phones Under 9000 INR, Redmi Note Prime vs Meizu M2 Note vs Coolpad Note 3

A couple of days ago Xiaomi launched Redmi Note Prime in India, manufactured under “Make In India” initiative, carrying a price tag of INR 8,499 which is available for purchase exclusively via Amazon. The latest smartphone from Xiaomi to join the Note family comes with fair share of perks that will definitely catch the eye of the customers who are willing to purchase a premium smartphone without shelling too much out from their pockets.

So lets take a look what’s new with this smartphone and is it really enough considering the tough competition in this price segment with closest competitors being Coolpad Note 3 and Meizu M2 Note.

Display

Starting with newly launched Xiaomi’s Redmi Note Prime, it features a 5 inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS LCD display where as Coolpad Note 3 comes with a 5.5 inches display with the same HD (1280 x 720 pixels ) display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. So we can expect colors to be more sharp and display quality to be much better on Redmi Note Prime in comparison to Coolpad Note 3.

In the war of displays Meizu M2 Note easily wins the game with a 5.5 inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with a screen density of 401 PPI.

Processor & RAM

Processor and RAM are the two important factors that determine the performance of the smartphone and is the deciding factor for many. We all want buttery smooth performance and flawless multitasking from our smartphones which include tons of apps running in the background and hours of lag free gameplays.

Redmi Note Prime packs a bit older 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset under the hood coupled with 2 GB of RAM. Comparatively, Coolpad Note 3 and Meizu M2 Note, both these smartphones are powered by MediaTek MT6753 octa core chipsets clocking 1.5 GHz and 1.3 GHz respectively. As for the RAM Coolpad Note 3 come with 3 GB of RAM and Meizu M2 Note comes with 2 GB of RAM.

We all know that MediaTek MT6753 is far better than Snapdragon 410 chipset. Coolpad Note 3 easily wins with 3 GB of RAM and octa core MT6753 chipset.

Storage

Modern day smartphone usage differ a lot from the ways smartphones were used couple of years ago. Now we want to carry our favorite collection of movies and music with us where ever we go. “Entertainment on the go” is the motto we all are living by.  Storing all this requires tons of storage space.

All three smartphones come with 16 GB of internal storage capacities. Redmi Note Prime supports expandable storage up to 32 GB, Coolpad Note 3 supports expandable storage up to 64 GB where as Meizu M2 Note again wins the game with expandable storage support up to 128 GB.

Camera

All three smartphones including Redmi Note Prime, coolpad Note 3 and Meizu M2 Note features the same 13 MP rear camera along with 5 MP front facing camera. In recent times this combination of 13 MP and 5 MP lens have become a trademark feature of  budget smartphones.

Both Redmi Note Prime and Coolpad Note 3 comes with LED flash but Meizu M2 Note takes the lead again with Dual LED flash and Bluglass IR filter as well as 5-element lens.

Battery

Redmi Note Prime and Meizu M2 Note are packing a slightly bigger 3100 mAh battery units to fuel them whereas Coolpad Note 3 comes with 3000 mAh battery. 100 mAh is not much of a difference which appears on paper but in reality battery back up depends on usage methods and other factors.

Price & Availability

Redmi Note Prime carries a price tag of INR 8,499 and is exclusively available from Amazon.in. Coolpad Note 3 comes for a price of INR 8,999 and is an Amazon exclusive too. Meizu M2 Note is slightly costlier than both these smartphones at INR 9,999 and is an Amazon exclusive too.

Among all three Coolpad Note 3 offers better security in terms of fingerprint sensor whereas Redmi Note Prime and Meizu M2 Note lacks these features.
