Kingston is America’s well known computer peripheral maker, and a renowned brand in India. It has also been on top when it comes to gaming accessories at reasonable prices. This year, it launched a very impressive HyperX model in collaboration with Microsoft and The Coalition. It is called the HyperX CloudX Revolver Gears of War headset.
It is called the CloudX Revolver Gears of War as it was launched alongside the much anticipated Gears of War 4. These are special edition gaming headphones, which I have been using from a couple of months now. It is the most premium headset available from the company till now. If you like to game, and want to have a suitable headphone to make your gaming experience more realistic, do read this review.

Design and Build Quality
It’s true that the HyperX CloudX Revolver Gears of War is priced on the higher side, but the design does not disappoint us at all. The color pallet on the headphones is fully dedicated to Gears of War theme. It has a rugged and militaristic look with in maroon and black colours.
There is a steel spine that runs over the headband and all the other components are fused into it. The headband is fixed under the steel band and has a bungee mechanism to extend according to the size of the head. You will find the Gears of War logo on the top of the headband, which is covered with premium quality leather and has soft cushioning on the inside. It has red colored stitches on each side, which give it an authentic and raw feel.
The steel frame has disks at each end, which hold the earcups and are covered smartly with plastic cans. These cans have iconic Crimson Omen logo (the skull). The inner part has a ball joint which lets the earcups to rotate freely and adjust comfortably on your ears. There is just one complaint with the design, that is the sound which is conducted by the steel frame when it touches something.
The 3.5mm cable comes out of the left earcup and has a braided finish, which is considered to be more durable. There is another port to attach the detachable microphone that comes separately in the box. The cushioning of the cups is very comfortable and made of good quality material.
Sound Quality and Performance
The Kingston HyperX CloudX Revolver Gears of War is something you would definitely not regret buying. I tested it with PS4 while playing Final Fantasy XV and Battlefield 1, which are considered to be out of the best games of 2016. Kingston has done great engineering with these if we compare it to previous Cloud series headphones.
Bass level is heavy; there is a lot of punch in the sound with clear lows. The best thing is that, it does not overshadow vocals or low tones even when the bass is on its top. While gaming, I was amazed to hear the gunshots, explosions or the directional sounds. Good enough to take you into the game I would say.
Microphone Quality
It comes with a detachable mic, which I count as a plus. The voice quality of the microphone was very good; we did not notice any distortions or cracks at the listener’s end. The spoken word on this mic can be heard very clearly and does not mix with the background noise.
Conclusion
HyperX CloudX Revolver Gears of War is something that does not give you a chance to complain. If you look at the design and comfort, it has a solid design especially for Gears of War fans, and also a very comfortable fit. Although you may feel it hanging below your ears in some cases but that does not get uncomfortable at all.
If you are a hardcore gamer and like feeling the game to its best, then you will surely like the performance too. The sound output is amazing for games, even with music. There are not a lot of features like wireless controls or buttons on the body, but it still manages to impress.
