Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Intex Aqua i7 however is made of plastic at the back and glass at the top but the back cover is made up of good quality of plastic and it has matte finish which provides a great grip in your hands when you hold it. it has a curved back cover with thickness of only 7.8 mm which makes it fairly thin. The design however does not feel very different but it feels great in hands and looks quite premium as well. The form factor of the device is good with the weight of 143 grams it does not feel very heavy and with slim profile makes it handy and easy to carry around.

Camera Performance

IMG_0689

The rear camera on Intex Aqua i7 is 13 MP with auto focus and LED flash for low light photos, the overall camera performance is quite good in daylight and in low light its decent but not too good, the flash will make photos too bright and may not be effective at times if the phone is not at right distance. The front camera is 5 MP and it can capture decent photos but it does not feel like a 5 MP quality anyways, but the quality of the video in video chat will be good.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

Intex Aqua i7 has 5 inch IPS LCD capacitive touch screen with 1920 x 1080 HD resolution which makes it quite good in the terms of pixel density and the viewing angles are also pretty wide than we expected. The colors looks good and quite vibrant at high brightness, full HD display does make a difference in making the phone stand out. In built memory of the device is 32Gb out of which around 25GB approx. is available to the user and you do not have MicroSD card slot to expand the storage. You get 2000 mAh battery which seems good but not sufficient for this Full HD display device, although we got around one day of backup with moderate usage which includes more of apps usage, casual gaming.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI is heavily optimised however it does not feel slow in UI transitions but it could have been a lot more snappy if it was running stock android, the settings UI and other configurations options are also optimised.

Benchmark Scores

  • Quadrant Standard Edition: 4765
  • Antutu Benchmark: 15306
  • Nenamark2:  33 fps
  • Multi Touch:  5 point

Sound, Video and Navigation

It gives great sound output in terms of volume but its not the loudest we have heard as per the placement of the loudspeaker it tends to get blocked when you place the device on a flat surface. It can play HD videos at 720p or 1080p, most of the popular formats are supported or else you can install third party players like MX Player and BS Player for unsupported formats. The device can also be used for GPS navigation, it has compass sensor as well for better navigation. It can also accept 3G SIM card so you can use for navigation on the go, but it will also consume some 3G or 2G data for downloading some smaller files required for navigation, GPS is quite quick in outdoors provided you have checked the settings under location access, check the video review above to know.

What We Liked

  • Nice slim profile
  • Decent display

What We Did Not Liked

  • Not too good camera
  • Limited one hand usage
  • Battery backup not that great

Conclusion and Price

Intex Aqua i7 is powered with quite good hardware at the price of around Rs. 18,000 INR which a smart flip cover inside the package, the only things we noticed about this device which is not too good in the overall battery backup and average photo quality in low light. Apart from these two, if you really like customised UI phones with good hardware and decent slim profile and nice form factor, its one good device you can opt for.
