InFocus M260 Review, An Exceptionally Affordable Smartphone

InFocus Corporation is a leading innovator in projection and display technologies. It entered the smartphone market with an aim to offer great value for money devices. Recently the company introduced a pocket friendly Android smartphone, the InFocus M260. This device comes under INR 4,000 range, which is predominantly occupied by the feature phones. We received a unit at our base and here is what we think about the phone.

Design and Display

The InFocus M260 comes with a 4.5 inch display which makes it measure 132.87 x 67.8 x 10.48 mm, it is thicker than most phones of this size and weighs 150 grams which is also bulkier if we consider the size. The phone looks decent and due to the weight and compact built, it feels solid in hand. It comes in yellow, orange, and white – with a black twist at the bottom

The front has a thick glass coating with broad bezels and the speakerphone grille is on top, coupled with the front camera.

It comes with a trendy dual-coloured plastic back which is removable; the built quality is not great but it’s good enough for this price. On the back, you will find a primary camera baked on the top with a LED flash seated underneath it, and a loudspeaker on the bottom left.

On the right side there is a power button on the top and the volume rocker resides just below it, both are made of plastic.

It has no more buttons except the two mentioned above, and a 3.5 mm audio jack with a microUSB 2.0 port on the top of the phone.

The display is 4.5 inches in size and the resolution is 480 x 800 pixels. It is a very basic display with low pixel density and poor viewing angles. The display is dull and not anything near crisp, but let’s not ignore the price. There are capacitive navigation buttons on the bottom as the part of the display.

UI

InFocus M260 offers Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box with minute tweaks and additional apps. The phone feels good while doing operating the basic functions; it was smooth even when multiple apps were running in the background.

Camera

InFocus M260 features a 5 MP rear camera (2880 x 1728) with LED flash; its performance is about average. You have keep your hands perfectly still to get a clear shot, as it takes no time to blur your pictures after minimal shakes.

The front camera is 2 MP and it captures decent selfies, if you expect great colours and details from this camera then you may get unhappy with the performance.

Performance

The InFocus M260 is powered with a 1.3 GHz MediaTek MT6582 Quad-Core 32-bit processor with 1 GB of RAM. For better graphics, it also has ARM Mali-400 GPU. This is a considerable specification in this price, its not a very powerful configuration but I personally praise it for the price it comes for.

This device worked perfectly while browsing internet, using camera, watching videos, or playing light games like Subway Surfer. There was no sign of hiccups, though we noticed freezing screen for 1-2 seconds while using multiple apps at once. For smooth and consistent performance, we would not recommend installing graphic greedy games on this device.

Battery

Infocus M260 features a 2000 mAh Li-Polymer battery, the battery capacity is enough to power up the hardware on this device. We tested the battery for different purposes and below are the results of the amount of battery drop.

Verdict

The InFocus M260 is priced at INR 3,999; it is a great phone if you are restricted under this budget. It has all the features of a smartphone which are not oftenly seen in this price range. If you can add little more cash to this, then you can easily find options with better camera and display. Overall, it’s not a bad deal at this price point, and surely stands out from the phones under INR 4000.
