The Smartron srt.phone comes in a unique box back. The outer box has a photograph of Sachin Tendulkar at the back. A message from the master blaster is found written inside the outer flap of the package. Inside the retail package, there is a fast charging enabled charger, USB to micro USB cable and the handset itself. Unfortunately, no headphones are there.

Coming to the device, the phone sports a decent built quality. At the front, there is the 5.5-inch Full HD IPS display.

Above the screen, lies the earpiece, front camera, and the sensors.

Three capacitive buttons are placed just below the display.

Moving on to the back, the primary camera, LED flash and the secondary microphone sits at the top. Slightly lower, there is a circular fingerprint scanner.

The Smartron srt.phone branding along with a ‘Designed and Engineered in India’ tag are present at the rear bottom.

The 3.5 mm audio jack and the power button lies at the top. There is also an additional noise canceling microphone.

Going to the bottom, we can see a Type-C USB port along with the primary microphone and loudspeakers.

Performance

Coming to the performance Smartron SRT has Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor with 4 x 1.8 GHz Cortex A-72 and 4×1.44 GHz Cortex-A53. This gives a good powerful smartphone experience in the given price range. It also has Adreno 510 GPU which takes care of all the graphics for the phone.

Multitasking and Ram

Smartron SRT comes with 4GB RAM and 32GB/64GB ROM which adds on the multitasking power to the device. While running multiple apps at the same time it does result in a bit heating but that’s marginal. Overall performance is satisfactory.

Camera

Smartron Srt.phone

Smartron SRT comes with 13MP rear camera with LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture and 5MP front camera. Both rear and front shooter result in decent camera experience. Day light pics are quite good but the pics in low light have lots of noise. Overall, the camera experience is satisfactory.

Looks and design

Smartron SRT comes in titanium grey color with plastic back cover. It has a removable back cover for inserting sim. The device comes with the fingerprint sensor at the back. Overall the phone grip is good but as there is a huge compromise on metal hence it does not give a premium feel.

Display Quality, Colors and Viewing Angles

Smartron Srt.phone

Smartron SRT comes with 5.5 inch Full HD IPS Capacitive Display with 1920×1080 HD resolution and 16M colors. It comes with default wallpapers of Sachin’s autograph. Overall the screen viewing angles are quite good and are competitive to the smartphones of the same segment.

Verdict

Smartron SRT priced at Rs.12,999 is a very good smartphone which has been designed and engineered in India. As Sachin Tendulkar himself has quoted, it’s a gift from his end to his fans.

The phone is powered with Snapdragon 652 and 4GB RAM which extensively improves the performance of the phone but on the other end there has been a huge compromise on the metal body design which makes the phone light weighted. This lacks in giving the premium feel to the phone. Overall a good performance oriented device from Smartron.
