Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

The build quality of this device is really good even at this price point which is quite amazing, you can compare the build quality with some high end costly android phones out there, the design of the device seems inspired you might have already seen a device like this if you see it for the first time, but once you hold the device in your hand you see the design is actually good and feels unique.

The form factor of the device is good, you have a nice grip in hands due to round edges and chrome type lining in the edges make the device look good. The weight of the device is around 155 grams which is again fairly good and device does not feel heavy at all in day to day while you carry it around and its quite slim as well at 8.9mm thickness due to which it goes nicely inside the jeans pocket.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has 5 inch FHD 1080P screen with 1920*1080 pixel display which is quite crisp and clear display, you wont see the pixels on the display with naked eyes, the viewing angles are also quite good if not the widest. You have two versions of this device available now – you can either get 16Gb version with 1 Gb of RAM and 32Gb version with 2 Gb RAM and rest all remains the same. The battery backup was quite good around 1 day with moderate usage and with heavy usage it was little less then that, during our two weeks review we used have around 30% of battery left at the night time with full day usage.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software version is 4.1.2 stock android UI and options which is again better as there was very minimal lag in UI, the benchmark scores for this device is good if not the best. On the gaming front this device can run both the casual games like Subway Surfers, Temple run Oz and heavy games like Need For Speed most wanted and other graphic intensive games like modern combat 3 can also run on this phone.

Benchmark Scores for Canvas 3D

  • Quadrant Standard Edition:  3869

Conclusion and Price

UMI X2 is a quite decent device with some powerful hardware at a nice price point, it is close competitor with Micromax Canvas HD A116 and it does lead in hardware specs with others device like canvas HD. The only issues we faced is certain times when we faced some UI lag but that again not in any application but while going through homescreens. 32 Gb ROM With 2 Gb RAM version comes for Rs. 16000 INR and 16Gb ROM with 1 Gb of RAM comes for Rs. 14,000 INR.
