Cat Phones has introduced another flagship phone in its series dubbed as Cat S60 and it’s pretty rugged. Features on board are quite impressive and what’s makes the phone stand out of the normal industry is the integrated thermal imaging camera from FLIR. FLIR is the world’s largest commercial company specialized in designing and making of thermal imaging cameras, components and sensors.
Cat S60 Specifications
Apart from the main highlight, that is the thermal imaging Camera, the Cat S60 comes with the following features: it features a 4.7 inch a-Si AHVA capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels and a pixel density of ~312 ppi. It comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Its screen to body ratio is ~56.1%. The device is powered by a 1.5 GHz Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor coupled with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
Talking about the camera, it is one of the main things you can talk about for this particular smartphone. It has a rear camera of 13 MP with autofocus, dual-LED (dual-tone) flash; heat palettes, temperature spot meter, geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, panorama and FLIR thermal camera (Lepton module) with thermal imaging. Front of the phone mounts a 5 MP camera and both the cameras can record video at 1080p@30 FPS. The device is is backed up by 3800 mAh battery.
Looking at the eye-catching elements on the phone, we have two things in sight, which are- it is s dust/drop/water proof and its thermal imaging camera. The phone can resist a 6 foot concrete drop and can work even after remaining under 16 foot of water for 60 minutes. Looks like Cat S60 is extremely tough and rugged smartphone indeed.

Thermal imaging camera can come in great use in situations like high dust and smoke or even in no light situation. It uses the infrared radiations as the source for light, which makes the subject or area visible at the viewfinder/screen.

The Cat S60 is a great rugged smartphone with good features on board. The Cat S60 will be available in India by end of spring 2017 and is expected to be priced at approx. Rs. 50,000.
