[MWC 2017] Gionee A1, A1 Plus Launched – Dual Cameras, Nougat

Gionee A1 and A1 Plus were launched today today at the ongoing MWC 2017. Both smartphones are the first in the new A series from Gionee. Carrying the tagline “super camera, super battery”, these mid-range smartphones focus on delivering a good camera experience in this segment. The A1 Plus also features a dual camera setup on the back, and a whopping 20 MP camera on the front.

Gionee A1 Specifications

The Gionee A1 sports a 5.5 inch full-HD (1080p) IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla Glass protection. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz octa-core Mediatek Helio P10 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GB of on-board storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

In terms of imaging, the Gionee A1 has a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.0+ sensor, 5P lens on the rear. On the front, it has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06″ sensor, 5P lens and selfie flash. The camera app includes features like best shot, tap-to-focus, panorama, HDR, geo tagging, and etc. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update with Amigo OS on top of it.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG. It packs a massive 4,010mAh battery inside with fast charge support. It measures 154.5×76.5×8.5mm and weighs 182 grams. It also features a fingerprint sensor and Waves MaxxAudio for an enhanced audio experience.

Gionee A1 Plus Specifications

The Gionee A1 Plus features a 6-inch full-HD (1080p) IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor with Mali-T880 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is further expandable up-to 256GB.

It features a dual camera setup on the rear. It has a main 13MP camera with LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06″ sensor, 5P lens and a 5MP secondary camera. On the front, it features a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.8″ sensor, 5P lens, and a selfie flash.

The A1 Plus packs a 4,550 mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo OS 3.6 on top. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It also features a fingerprint sensor like Gionee A1. It measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1mm and weighs 226grams.

Pricing and Availability

The Gionee A1 is priced at 349 Euros which roughly translates to Rs. 24,630 and will be available in Gray, Black and Gold color options.

The Gionee A1 Plus is priced at 499 Euros which roughly translates to Rs. 35,210 and will be available in Gray and Mocha Gold color options.

Both the devices will be available after April, 2017.
