Huawei Ascend P6S Launched with Minor Upgrades over Predecessor

China’s Huawei recently unveiled a successor to their super slender Huawei Ascend P6. The P6, at the time of its launch was regarded as one of the slimmest devices going around. In fact, the makers claimed it was the slimmest Android device during launch.

Coming back to the P6S, the device indeed is an upgraded P6 but not to the extent of which you’d like. A few minor design changes have been employed too, which address problems reported on the P6 which include – overheating (understandable on a device as thin as the P6), etc. What this has done is that it has increased the thickness by a mere 0.3mm, bringing the total now to 6.5mm as opposed to the 6.18mm on the predecessor.

That was for the cosmetic changes. Getting under the hood, you now find a 1.6GHz quad core processor, a 0.1GHz upgrade over the previous. There’s the same 2000mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and the remaining, which includes an 8MP rear shooter, 5MP front camera, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth and aGPS. Another minor upgrade includes storage that now reads 16GB as opposed to 8GB on the previous model, albeit with support for microSD suspended. Everything, beneath a 4.7-inch 720p screen.

The device is available only in the Chinese market for now, with availability in other markets set to follow in the coming months. The device is expected to get a $540 price tag internationally, and equivalent amounts in other currencies.
