Idea Ultra with Quad Core and 5 Inch Display at Rs. 10,500

Idea cellular has Launched Idea Ultra a 5 inch smartphone with quad core processor priced at Rs. 10,500. Other hardware specifications are quite humble and are similar to phones like Micromax Canvas 2 A110 which is now old and yet popular. This is the 12 smartphone from the cellular operator which claims to have sold 6 lakh devices so far.

The IPS LCD display of this phone is 5 inches in length and sports WVGA resolution similar to Canvas 2. The text won’t be as crisp but you will still be able to avail advantage of a large screen.

Ultra is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor which we see all around in the budget quad core segment. The RAM capacity is 512 MB and this is a little disappointing. The internal storage is standard 4 GB out of which 1.9 GB will be available at the users end. You can further extend it to 32 GB using a microSD card.

The primary camera is of 8 MP and comes with LED flash. It is capable of capturing 90 shots in burst mode. A front VGA camera is also present for video calling. This phone also supports dual SIM functionality.


The battery capacity is 2000 mAh which is expected to carry you through the day with moderate usage. Connectivity features include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS. For Rs. Rs. 259 – Rs.261 Idea Ultra users across all major 3G markets can avail 3G data benefits of 3GB 3G Internet & Free Idea TV for 3 months users.

The phone offers humble specifications and will suffice for basic usage. The market for budget quad core smartphones is fierce and brings nothing new to the table. It will compete with phones like Xolo Q700, Xolo Q800 and iBall Andi 4h Quadro. This phone will be available for purchase from Idea’s own retail outlets across various states in India.
