Here’s Why The Moto E3 Power And G3 Will Not Get Nougat Update

When most of the latest smartphones are getting the Android Nougat Update 7.0, there are some smartphones that will miss this recent update. In an updated list on Motorola’s blog, Moto E3 Power remains absent among the devices which will get new Nougat update. Last October, Motorola announced the list of smartphones that will get the recent Nougat Update 7.0.

Moto G3

Even that time the company did not list Moto E3 Power and G3 but, some speculations suggested that it will get the update. But, now it is confirmed that Moto E3 Power and G3 will not get the Nougat update. This is a little shocking and disappointing for the users. The E3 Power was launched in September 2016, a month after the launch of Android 7.0 Nougat.

But, Motorola has changed its strategy and this might be the beginning of a trend from the company that budget smartphones will not get recent Android updates. Even Samsung Galaxy A5 is likely to get the Android Nougat update, which was launched in 2014. And when phones which are two years old in the market are getting latest updates it becomes a setback point for the company to not introduce the recent updates of Android in the newly introduced smartphones.

Moto E3

This is the first time that particular smartphones from Moto which are recently introduced are not getting the recent update of Android. There are a couple of changes in the Moto’s strategy after its acquisition by Lenovo. This is one of the biggest. The reasons that we think the E3 Power and G3 are not getting the Android Nougat 7.0 update are as follows:

  1. Low Price: – Moto E3 Power is priced at Rs 7,999 for 8GB variant while the G3 is available as low as Rs 6,999 with an exchange. As both these phones are budget smartphones, the company might not wish to put much efforts in introducing the major Android updates in this segment.
  2. Entry Level Specifications: The Moto E3 Power is powered by a MediTek MT6735p quad-core processor clocked at 1GHz and paired with 2GB RAM. Whereas, the Moto G3 is powered by a Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor with 1.4GHz quad-core CPU. This is further paired with either a 1GB or 2GB RAM.

As both the phones have basic specifications and are placed in an entry-level segment, the company is not interested in making any more efforts.

  3. Lack Of Resources: It is known that Lenovo fired multiple employees of Motorola. This was done to centralize the work more in China rather in the US. The company claimed that this was done to integrate Motorola seamlessly. But, the ill effects of this step has started emerging. The company is not able to provide a major OS update to the recently introduced smartphone. This reflects the company’s negligence of the budget oriented smartphone buyers.

The key reason for the high sale of Motorola’s phones was effective performance and introduction of recent updates of Android. But, in a situation where the company is affecting the key highlights of its market strategy might restrain the buyers to opt Moto. Let’s see whether in near future company realizes its mistake and offers the update in the E3 Power and G3. Till then, do let us know if you want the recent Android updates in the Moto E3 Power and G3.
