OnePlus One will be available for all Starting this October

OnePlus disclosed earlier that they are working towards a pre-order system to provide an alternative to much loathed notorious invite system. Now the company has detailed the new invite system and how things will work starting this October.

Earlier, to get a OnePlus One, users were required to frequent OnePlus forums, make friends with other members and participate in some weird contests. Company offers the following explanation for the same:

“we do not have the ability to absorb miscalculations in inventory. Any excess inventory will lead to a direct loss, and a larger miscalculation means we need to close our doors. We believe that we’re forcing positive change within our industry by increasing consumer choice and building better quality products, and we’re not looking to stop anytime soon. This is why we have to be conservative and only produce the amount of devices we’re 100% sure will be sold”

Moving on, here is how the new invite system will work. OnePlus will accept orders/pre-order from anyone who would like to buy OnePlus One, but the only between specific period of time. After the limited stocks are sold out, you order will be booked as pre-order. There is no limit on number of orders that can be placed, but the shipping date will be longer depending on the number of pre-orders.

The invite system will work in parallel. If you get an invite, you can cash it for an immediate shipping and forfeit your place in the pre-order queue. The final instructions will appear a week before pre-order starts, which is scheduled for sometime in October. Since India isn’t in the list of Countries OnePlus is shipping to, Indian users won’t benefit as much. However, we can surely expect this to be part of OnePlus retail strategy in India.
