Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ Leaked Images Show Rear-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner

The Samsung Galaxy S8 / S8+ does not seem to be off the news at all. Twitter tipster Evan Blass has leaked yet another press image of the upcoming flagship duo. The photos show the back of the device clearly for the first time. We can finally see that Samsung has moved the fingerprint scanner from the front and placed it right beside the rear camera. A new colour scheme allegedly named Orchid Grey is also visible in the disclosed images.

Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ Expected Specifications and Release Date

The successor of the Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge is expected to come with a dual curved Quad HD (2560 x 1440) display. The S8 will feature a smaller 5.8-inch Super AMOLED panel while the S8+ will rock a larger 6.2-inch one. The smartphones will be powered by the upcoming Snapdragon 835 chipset or the in-house Exynos 9 Series 8895 SoC.

The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are expected to come with 4 GB, or 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM mated with 64 or 128 GB of internal storage. Samsung’s 2017 flagships will probably run on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.

Moving on the camera, a 12 MP dual pixel sensor is presumed to sit at the back. The front will rock an 8 MP selfie snapper. A Galaxy Note 7 like Iris scanner is expected too. The S8 and S8+ will probably come with a micro SD card slot, 3.5 mm headphone jack, heart rate sensor, barometer, along with IP68 water and dust resistance certification.

Samsung Galaxy S8 family will feature top notch 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth v4.2, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, Type-C USB port and NFC. The smaller S8 will sports a 3000mAh battery, while the bigger S8+ will get a 3500mAh cell.

As per the leaked images, the S8 and S8+ will come in at least two colour options, namely Black Sky and Orchid Grey. In time we may come to know about other variants. Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy S8 line-up on March 29, 2017. India availability will follow up soon.
