WhatsApp Android App Update Brings Group Mute For Decade Option

Given that WhatsApp has over half a billion monthly active users the service is no doubt one among the most used cross platform chatting services available out there. As the user base is growing, the WhatsApp team has rolled out a new update to its Android version. While the official change-log is not revealed along with the apk file on its site, it is believed to be focused on group messaging and faster image sharing. However, the Google Play Store in India has still not listed this updated application.

As per the v2.11.230 update, WhatsApp has extended the mute timing of groups from the existing choices of 8 hours, 1 day and 1 week up to 1 month, 1 year and 1 century. Those using this updated app can deactivate the notifications of group messages. So far, the users had the ability to receive silent notifications for the muted group messages, but with the new ‘Show Notification’ option, users can disable them completely and would not show them in the notification bar.

This new update also adds new camera and voice message icons and on tapping them users can access the handset’s camera directly for click and share capability. This eliminates the need to carry out that weighty process of opening the gallery to attach a snap and send it across to their contacts.
