Micromax Unite 2 Unboxing, Review, Features, Price, Benchmarks, Camera, Software and Overview

Design, Form Factor and Display

On the first impression Micromax Unite 2 looks like a conventional Micromax phone. The phone has comparable weight to Moto E and it’s not too thick either. There is no chrome lining around the edges and loud speaker is present at the rear side.

The display is 4.7 IPS LCD Display inches in size and quite bright. The display resolution is slightly low with 480 x 800 pixels and its noticeable. Color reproduction and contrast ratio aren’t very impressive either. Overall, the build quality isn’t as impressive as that of Moto E, but is reasonably good in this price range.

Processor and RAM

We knew at the start of the year that MT6582 will redefine budget quad core devices in Indian market, but it’s pleasantly surprising that Micromax is offering 1.3 GHz Quad core chipset with 1 GB RAM at such low price point.

It scored 8711 on Quadrants benchmark, 16729 on Antutu benchmarks and 63.3 fps on Nenamarks. This implies you will be able to comfortably play graphic intensive games on this device. Apps can also be installed directly on MicroSD card to further help your cause. The chipset can also play full HD and HD videos comfortably unlike Moto E.

Camera and Internal Storage

Front 2 MP camera is an average performer. The rear 5 MP unit is at par with some of the best 5 MP cameras that we have come across. The camera app is stock camera app and camera supports auto focus and tab to focus. It  didn’t focus very well in macro mode and took some time to focus in absence of artificial light, but in this price range, the camera is certainly among the best. The camera can record 720p HD videos and is supported by LED flash. For a better insight you can watch the unite 2 Camera samples below.

Internal strorage is standard 4 GB and can be further extended to 32 GB using MicroSD support. You can also install apps directly on SD card and thus, you can opt for a high quality SDHC card to deal with your individual storage requirement.

User Interface and Battery

The UI is mostly stock Android 4.4.2 Kitkat with slight customizations on top. The UI transitions weren’t as smooth as we saw on Moto E, but you won’t be disappointed with the performance. Micromax has also guaranteed future Software update via FOTA.

Battery capacity is 2000 mAh and more importantly, Battery is removable and replaceable. It’s still too early to comment on the backup as we have had the device for only 1 day as of now. With benchmark testing, small amount of time spend on youtube, some light games and social networking, Micromax Unite 2 has managed to cross 1 day mark. We can expect the device to last one day with low to moderate usage.

Conclusion

Micromax Unite 2 is meant for first time Android users and they won’t be disappointed with Micromax’s offering. The device is a formidable competitor of Moto E and checks all significant boxes. Micromax Unite 2 is available in Grey, White, Red and Green color options and can be purchased for Rs. 6,999.
