Microsoft launched three more Lumia devices in India today and the top rung of the ladder is occupied by Lumia 930 with a metallic frame and 20 MP PureView camera. The handset will retail as flagship Lumia device and thus is expected to combine the best of Nokia and Microsoft expertise. Let’s take a look at our first impressions of Lumia 930.

Design, Build and Display
Of the three Lumia devices that we saw today, Lumia 930 was the most premium, but that’s not surprising as it’s also the most expensive one. The device has a decent heft to it and feels extremely sturdy in hands. The aluminum frame running around the edges gives it a solid feel and appearance.
The Display is a Super AMOLED panel which is very bright, with good viewing angles and great contrast. It’s one of the finest AMOLED displays with full HD 1080P resolution and a tapered cover glass which looks and feels good. The display also uses ClearBlack technology which means it will be legible even in sunlight.
Processor and RAM
Lumia 930 uses 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset with Adreno 330 GPU, which is more than enough for smooth UI transitions on Windows Phone 8.1 OS. In our initial time with the device, there was no hind of lag. RAM capacity is 2 GB which will suffice for efficient multi tasking as well as maintaining efficient performance in the long run.
Camera and Internal Storage
The 20 MP BSI rear PureView Camera with 6 element Zeiss lens, OIS and Dual LED flash is a great performer. It also fits in seamlessly and there is no conspicuous camera bump in spite of OIS. In our initial testing rear camera performance and focus speed was good. The front 1.2 MP camera however is outshined by what Lumia 730 is offering and by a margin.
Internal storage is 32 GB out of which around 23 GB is available at users end. There is no MicroSD card slot, so further expansion isn’t an option.
User Interface and Battery
Interface is similar to most other Windows Phone 8.1 OS smartphones with Action center, home screen wallpaper and more of conveniently placed setting toggles. Denim update features like App folders, App corners, Snooze times, SMS merge and other security enhancements will be included.
Nokia is using a 2420 mAh battery inside with promised 15 hours of 3G talk time and 23 days of standby time. The battery also supports wireless charging, but it’s not removable. Capacity wise, this is smaller than what most Android flagships are offering these days. we will give our final verdict after we have spent some more time with it.

Conclusion
Nokia Lumia 930 is a well build Lumia smartphone but seems a tad bit over priced for now. The phone packs high end features in a very sturdy and solid lumia casing which should withstand more than a few accidental drops. If you are interested in extra large display real estate, Lumia 1520 is also selling in the same price bracket. Lumia 930 will retail for 38,649 INR starting from 15th October, 2014
