Spice Dream Uno H Hands on, Photo Gallery and Video

Spice has today launched another Android One smartphone in India, dubbed as Spice Android One Dream Uno H. This doesn’t belong to the new wave of Android One devices which will be powered by Qualcomm chipset, but is essentially the same first gen Android One device with support for Hindi Language. We have had the device for a few hours now and here are our first impressions.

Design, Build and Display

The display is 4.5 Inches in size and very usable for day to day usage. If you are accustomed to high resolution displays, you will notice the display softness. There is no pixilation on the display. Viewing angles and colors are good as well. There is no Gorilla Glass protection on the display.

Processor and RAM

The processor used is the same MT6582 with 4 cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.3 GHz. The chipset seems to work efficiently in this smartphone. We didn’t observe any UI lag in our initial time with the device. Out of 1 GB around 575 GB is free on the first boot. This is good enough for smooth performance.

Camera and Internal Storage

The rear camera is the same 5 MP unit which isn’t rich in details but images don’t show much noise either. Compared to other 5 MP low light shooters, we like the low light performance as well. You can record full HD 1080p videos from the rear camera. Thr front 2 MP camera will suffice for decent quality video chat.

Internal storage is 4 GB, out of which 2.27 is available at user end. SD card is kind of mandatory in this smartphone. You will need an SD card for basic functionality like clicking images. There is no separate partition for apps and data.

User Interface and Battery

The software is pure Android 4.4.4 KitKat with guaranteed Android Lollipop upgrade. The software is the main highlight of Android one smartphones as Google will handle the updates itself. The update is expected to arrive before the end of January next year.

Battery capacity is 1700 mAh. You can get around 4 hours of continuous usage and we are expecting similar one day backup with moderate usage as its predecessor. The battery capacity is average in this price range.

Conclusion

Spice Dream Uno H is the familiar Android One smartphone, but with Hindi language support. It offers decent performance at its respective price tag and will be a good deal for all basic users. Those who are strictly looking for a Hindi language supported Android One device can buy Spice Dream Uno H for 6,499 INR. The handset will be available for purchase soon on Flipkart.
