Camera and Internal Storage

In terms of photography, the Lava Iris 406Q is an average performer with only a 5 MP camera at the rear coupled with LED flash, Zero Shutter Lag (ZSL) and high performance HDR. Also, there is a VGA snapper at the front to facilitate video calling. Given the budget price point, these average camera capabilities are acceptable.

For storage, there is a mere 4 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32 GB. As the apps and the software get stored on this 4 GB memory, it should not be a surprise for users to invest on a micro SD card.

Processor and Battery

Evident from the name, Iris 406Q is a handset belonging to the Q lineup that has smartphones with quad-core processors. Well, the handset is equipped with a Snapdragon 200 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz teamed up with Adreno 302 GPU and 1 GB of RAM for enhanced multi-tasking. Interestingly, it has to be noted that this is the first smartphone to come with a quad-core chipset at such a low price tag.

A 1,700 mAh battery pumps enough juice to Iris 406Q delivering a decent backup to the handset.

Display and Features

The dual SIM Iris Pro 406Q is given a 4 inch touch screen display boasting WVGA resolution of 800×480 pixels. Also, there are connectivity options such as Bluetooth 3.0 with A2DP, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS for users to stay connected always.

On the software front, the Iris Pro 406Q is fueled by Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and the vendor has promised to roll out the v4.4 KitKat upgrade as well. Also, there are features such as Battery Guru app that combines the usage patterns to save the battery life and Audio Plus to deliver surround sound, wider bass and 3D audio while wearing headphones.

Comparison

The Lava Iris 406Q will compete with smartphones such as Micromax A94 Canvas Mad, Panasonic P31, Micromax Canvas Power, Gionee P3 and Xolo Q500.
