The latest one to enter this segment is indigenous vendor Lava that has come out with a smartphone dubbed Lava Magnum X604 priced at Rs 11,999. Camera and Internal Storage

The Lava Magnum X604 arrives with an acceptable camera performance with an 8 MP main camera sensor that is teamed up with LED flash and BSI Sensor for better low-light photography and FHD 1080p video shooting capabilities. This camera is paired with a 2 MP front-facing shooter that can make good quality video calls and click selfies. This camera sounds decent enough in this price range and ranks above average on paper.

The smartphone bundled 8 GB of default storage space that can in turn be expanded by another 32 GB with the help of a micro SD card. The inclusion of 8 GB of storage is definitely a good task and not many smartphones in the sub Rs 12,000 price range arrive with such storage options.

Processor and Battery

The Lava smartphone employs a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom processor coupled with Videocore IV graphics engine. The chipset uses a NEON technology that makes it capable of supporting numerous video codecs providing a faster multimedia performance. Also, the processor is pretty power efficient conserving the battery life effectively. A 1 GB of RAM joins the processor in delivering superior multi-tasking capabilities.

The battery on the smartphone is an impressive 2,600 mAh unit that should be capable of pumping in a decent backup to it. Moreover, such a huge battery is not incorporated in any of its stiff rivals.

Display and Features

The Lava Magnum X604 comes with a gigantic 6 inch IPS display packing a HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. This roughly translates to a pixel density of 245 ppi that is average. But, the other offerings in this price range arrive with lower resolution making the Lava phone a sharper and better phone.

As mentioned above, the device is fueled by Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and it packs connectivity aspects such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS. Moreover, the device arrives in two colors – Brown and White.

Comparison

The Lava Magnum X604 smartphone will be a tough challenger to Spice Stellar Mi-600, Xolo 2000L and Intex Aqua i15.
