Featuring a 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display and an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, the LeEco Le 2 tries to take on some of the more established brands like the Moto G series and the Redmi Note series from its Chinese competitors.

It also comes with a full metal build and a fairly minimal design, making it a really compelling choice in its range.

LeEco Le 2 Physical Overview

The LeEco Le 2 comes in a very solid metallic build. At its price, it is one of the most premium looking smartphones. LeEco deserves the credit for keeping it minimalist and refraining from branding it heavily.

Le 2

The Le 2 comes in three colours – gold, grey and silver. Perhaps the only design gaffe is the bezels on the top and the bottom, while the two vertical sides are almost bezel-free. However, LeEco has utilized the bottom part of the phone for navigation buttons, so in actual usage it looks just fine.

On the front, you will find the 5.5 inch full HD display. Above the display, you will find the ear piece, ambient light sensor and the 8 MP front camera. The bottom part houses the three navigation buttons.

On the back, the 16 MP camera along with the LED flash are present. Just below the camera module, you will find the fingerprint sensor. Further down, there is the LeEco logo, which looks quite alright along with the rest of the design.

The right side of the phone has the volume rocker and the power button.

LeEco Le 2 User Interface

The Le 2 comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with LeEco’s custom skin EUI 5.5 on top. Like most other Chinese companies, LeEco too has added a suite of features not present in stock Android. This makes sure you get both – customization options and important features – without having to do anything extra.

LeEco Le 2 Camera Overview

The Le 2 comes with a 16 MP main camera on the back, along with dual LED flash. While it does not feature fancy OIS or Phase Detection Autofocus, it does come with a front 8 MP camera with a large 1.4µm pixel size. This means your selfies should have a lot more detail compared to regular front camera pics.

Camera Samples

The LeEco Le 2’s camera performed quite well in different lighting conditions. As you can see above, we tested the Le 2 camera indoors and outdoors in different lighting conditions. While the performance may not have been exemplary, the fact that phones costing Rs. 12,000 can click photos as good as the Le 2 can is quite a good progress.

Overall, we were very satisfied with the Le 2’s camera performance.

Price, Availability and Competition

The LeEco Le 2 is priced at Rs. 11,999. The phone will go on sale for the first time on June 28, and LeEco has chosen to go with the Flash sales model. Registrations for the flash sale are now open, where the Le Max 2 will also be available.

The closest competitor to the Le 2 is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which is now openly available on Mi.com/in.

Conclusion

At Rs. 11,999, the LeEco Le 2 is a great deal. LeEco is not only offering you an amazing value for money in terms of pure specs, it takes the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 head on. The good things about the Le 2 are not restricted to just the specs – even the design is great, especially at this price. The company has also tried to help the services side of things with its Supertainment suite of services. While that may not be exciting to some users, the Le 2 itself is enough to attract customers.
