Physical Overview

The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro comes in a plastic shell that looks quite minimalist. Compared to the Canvas 6, it looks much better both in terms of the design as well as the feel in hands. The ever so slightly curved glass adds to the looks, but it can be a bit of a trouble to apply a screenguard. That said, it blends well with the sides of the device.

On the front of the phone, you will find the 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display. Above the display, there is the earpiece and the front camera. Micromax has ditched capacitive buttons for the Canvas 6 Pro and opted for the regular on-screen buttons instead. This helps in retaining the stock Android look as well as reducing the design distractions.

On the top, you will find the second microphone for noise cancellation and the 3.5 mm headphone jack. On the bottom, there’s the microUSB port.

The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. While Micromax is not installing a custom skin now, the OS has been tweaked to add some extra features and apps. Other than that, this is basically stock Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.

Camera Overview

The Canvas 6 Pro comes with a 13 MP camera and an LED flash. The camera features Phase Detection Autofocus, which should help drastically to reduce focusing times. You can also record 1080p videos at a smooth 30 frames per second. The front camera is a 5 MP unit. In the coming days, we are going to test this phone extensively and publish our detailed findings about the camera. Be on the lookout for our review.

Price and Availability

The Micromax Canvas 6 Pro comes with a price tag of Rs. 13,999. The phone is already available for pre-order right now on Micromax’s website. If you are interested, you can book yours today.

Comparison & Competition

The Canvas 6 Pro has entered an extremely competitive price segment. With companies like Xiaomi launching new phones in this price range, Micromax has decided that it needs to step up its game. The Canvas 6 Pro is a step in this direction. Other than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, the Canvas 6 Pro will have to beat the Moto G Turbo as well.

Conclusion

Micromax has had a difficult year and the company has woken up to see the damage it has sustained. The Canvas 6 Pro, in addition to the 15 other phones launched today aims to help the company rise again. It looks like a really good value for money device on paper. As we continue to test it out, come back for our full review of the Canvas 6 Pro in the coming days.
