Besides launching the Panasonic P41, the vendor also announced the release of P61 to its mid-range product portfolio. Camera and Internal Storage

Likewise its competitors, the Panasonic P61 also comes with an 8 MP shooter at its rear that sounds to be a decent one with LED flash for better low light photography and FHD 1080p video recording. Also, there is a 2 MP front camera for clicking self portrait shots and for video conferencing.

Internal storage onboard the phone is the impressive 16 GB which should suffice most consumers by addressing all their storage demands. Making this more exciting is the inclusion of expandable storage support up to 32 GB that will serve as a backup.

Processor and Battery

Panasonic P61 comes with similar hardware specifications as its sibling. It includes an identical 1.3 GHz quad-core processor that is coupled with a 1 GB of RAM that provides better multi-tasking. If you are looking for a quad-core smartphone with the given specifications, there are many offerings in the sub Rs 8,000 price bracket making the Panasonic P61 a weak contender.

The handset includes a 2,800 mAh battery that appears to be decent enough to power the device delivering it a moderate backup under mixed usage. This battery should suffice powering the large screen and other standard specifications of the handset.

Display and Other Features

The display is pretty large measuring 6 inches in size and it flaunts HD 1280×720 pixel resolution. It is an IPS panel with good viewing angles and accurate color reproduction. Such a large display should be great for all the entertainment and browsing purposes on its huge real estate.

The Panasonic P61 is fueled by Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. It also packs connectivity aspects including 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth along with dual SIM functionality.

Comparison

The Panasonic P61 will definitely enter a direct rivalry with large screen smartphones such Xiaomi Redmi Note, Micromax Canvas Doodle 3 A102, Xolo Q2000L, Lenovo A850 and others.

Price and Conclusion

Priced at Rs 14,990, the Panasonic P61 appears to be expensive for the average specifications it comes packed with. While the market is flooded with a slew of capable offerings starting from the sub Rs 7,000 price tag, this smartphone costing a hefty Rs 15,000 price tag will be a feeble one when it comes to the competition. At this price bracket, the vendors are pushing octa-core phones with high-end features and not simple quad-core devices. Anyways, we need to wait to see if the battery backup of the handset could be pretty long for such a large screen phone and its overall performance that are also major factors of success.
