Looks like Samsung is on a launch spree, as we saw the latest Galaxy J2 2016 making its entry to the budget market. Samsung has rolled out two new devices today in India. It has launched the revised version of the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 as Galaxy On5 Pro and Galaxy On7 Pro respectively.

There is not a lot change in the phones but the specs look improved and some smart features are also added to the package. In this post, we’ll be unboxing the elder sibling Galaxy On7 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro Unboxing

The Galaxy On7 Pro comes packed in a compact box that looks similar to the boxes we have seen with affordable Samsung phones. As always, Samsung has used striking colours and prints on the box. The handset is placed at the top and rest of the contents are under the flap.

Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro Physical Overview

I was a bit disappointed when I first unboxed the On7 Pro as I found the handset to be same as we have seen it before. After I saw the appealing design of the Galaxy J2 2016 recently, I expected the new phones to look better. It comes with the same design and build like the Galaxy On7. It has a 5.5 inch display on the front with the similar faux leather back and shiny edges.

It is fully made out of plastic and there is no display protection glass added on top. It feels a little bigger for those with small hands but that’s the common case with most 5.5 inch phones.

Front Top features a loudspeaker grill, Proximity and Ambient light Sensors and front camera.

Display

On 7 Pro (10)

It comes with a 5.5 inch TFT display that is the old one we have seen. It would have been a great deal if Samsung chose to use the AMOLED panel for its On7 Pro. Display sharpness is below average but the colours look fine. You cannot view this display from extreme angles, but the outdoor brightness mode covers some of its flaws.

Camera Overview

Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro has a 8 MP rear camera with LED flash, autofocus and f/2.2 aperture. It also features touch focus, face detection and Geo-tagging. It can record Full HD (1080p) videos at the rate of 30 frames per second. On the front it is equipped with a 5 MP shooter with  f/2.2 aperture. Overall the camera is also similar to the earlier variant and it is quite decent.

Gaming Performance

I tried playing Modern Combat 5 on this handset, and as we know Modern Combat is a graphic greedy game. My gaming experience was not one of the pleasant experiences so far. The game showed lags and hiccups straight from the start and did not impress me at all. The configuration looks decent but it just couldn’t pull off games with ease.

After 30 minutes of gaming, I noticed a battery drop of 9% and the device got warm after extensive usage. Gamers should think twice before buying this handset.

Conclusion

I won’t call this phone a bad deal just because it is from Samsung, otherwise there is nothing that can attract a sensible consumers who demands good performance, a good display, stylish design or an outstanding camera. The On7 Pro fails to deliver any of these, but still the device is good for those who do not use their phones for heavy tasks. A 5.5 inch HD of display at INR 11,190 is an added advantage on top of the Samsung’s brand value.
