In the race of the phablet = tablet + phone, LG recently launched the LG Optimus Vu in india in competition to Samsung having similar device Note 2, both Note 2 and LG Optimus Vu falls in the same price range and the target customers also remain the same.

Design

Lg Optimus Vu has a got a good square design and build seems to be inherited from LG Optimus 4x HD but it does not dimensions on the other hand seems odd, is it might be difficult to hold in one hand for many people out there.

Display

LG Optimus Vu has 5 inch capacitive HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16 Million colors with 256 PPI [ Pixels per inch ] with a screen resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels. The clarity of text on screen is amazing, I could not see any pixels very easily when I peeking in the screen with my eyes.

Lg has taken extra steps to optimize the user interface on this device, it runs android ice cream sandwich which has been customized to the right extent to provide a great experience at the user end, yes it does come up with apps like LG Support, Task manager, to dos, quick memo which are quite useful for the end user.

It provides the user with seven home screens, out of which you can set any as the default home screen. In the app drawer you will see the option to see the apps, downloads and widgets.

Form Factor

It may look bulky but its not really that heavy and as far the odd dimensions are concerned regarding this phone, Lg says it shows you things in 4:3 aspect ration so you don’t see vertical cutting while you are reading a web page in the browser and you are able to see more but on the other hands those with small palms may have issues holding it many times in one hand due to its larger width.

Conclusion

Lg Optimus Vu is one device which stands out of the crowd of similar devices but on the other hand its something which not everyone would like, if you really care about the 4:3 aspect ratio it does make sense for you.
