Spice Launch Stellar Slatepad Mi-725 – 7 inch Tablet With 3G at Rs 8499 INR

Spice have launched yet another tablet in the already much-populated affordable tablet category in India. The device in question is their latest entrant in the tablet category – the Spice Stellar Slatepad Mi-725. This device was launched today by Spice, which can be bought online now.

The device has 3G support built-in – which means you do not need to search for WiFi zones or carry any dongles with you in order to access the internet. Also what this device offers is 2G network usage – which means you can use it to perform voice calls. Another tablet which was launched today was the Wammy Desire II, which has an Exynos 4412 quad core processor, priced at 9,999 INR. The Spice Stellar Slatepad Mi-725 is expected to give the Wammy Desire II and many tablets in that range a run for their money, available for 8,499 INR.

The device has a rather unimpressive SVGA display resolution of 1024×600 pixels, which is pretty low by today’s standards. Which means that your multimedia experience will not be as enriching as one would have expected to be. The processing will be done by a 1GHz single core processor coupled with 512MB RAM, which again is a pretty weak setup keeping in mind today’s average.

We would’ve liked to see at least a dual-core processor and 1GB RAM. 4GB of on-board memory is there for the user to store files and the Android OS – out of which just 2GB will be available to the user, which is not enough by any means. Thankfully, the device has a microSD expansion slot – which is compatible with SD cards of up to 32GB in size.

When it comes to connectivity features, this is where the device sweeps the stakes, being loaded with a lot of connectivity options. USB, Bluetooth v4.0, WiFi, dual band GSM (900/1800MHz) and single band WCDMA or 3G (2100MHz) will assist you in connecting to the internet anywhere. There is also an option to use A-GPS in case you get lost somewhere, or want to know a specific route.

The tablet has a SIM slot, and a 3.5mm audio port. A 1.3 megapixel front facing camera will aid video calling, while there is a 3.2 megapixel shooter at the rear. Powering all this up will be a 3000mAh Li-Po battery. One big plus for most users will be the availability of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

Conclusion

The Spice Stellar Slatepad is an average tablet with low-end features. This tablet is not meant for gaming and/or multimedia as the specs suggest, but targeted more at a specific audience who need many connectivity features at one time. This tablet therefore falls in the productivity segment, which although might not look very impressive to some users but there is a segment of consumers which need such tablets.

The device can be bought for 8499 INR on Saholic with an option to pay Cash on Delivery.
