XOLO A500+ Dual Core Mediatek With 4 Inch Screen Rs. 6500 INR

We saw recently some new devices from XOLO – the Q700, Intel powered X910, nVidia powered T1000, among others. Now there are reports of another Mediatek based device from the same manufacturer – the XOLO A500+. Touted to be A500’s successor, the A500+ is said to come this June according to our source, with a price tag of 6,500 INR.

We earlier also reported about Lava’s roadmap for this year – and the A500+ should be the next device in line to be launched. This phone is said to target the section of audience which are more into casual usage of phones and want good value for their money – without spending much at the same time. We would say that the price tag that comes along this phone does justify this. Among budget manufacturers in India, XOLO is by far among the top when it comes to build quality.

Speaking of the phone’s specifications, as the title says the A500+ comes with a dual core processor from Mediatek – possibly the MT6572. The display will be a 4.0 inch one with a WVGA resolution of 800×480. Considering the price tag and the targeted users, the WVGA screen should be good enough. It is expected that the phone will come with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean out-of-the box, while being upgradeable to Android 4.2, the upgraded version of Jelly Bean.

As has been the trend with budget manufacturers and Mediatek chipsets, this device will also feature dual-SIM capabilities, with the option of dual-standby. There will be two cameras to take care of your photography and video calling needs – a 5.0 megapixel rear, and a VGA front. In terms of numbers this sounds really good, but numbers aren’t everything when it comes to cameras, as we know. It would also depend on the quality of the sensors and software optimization.

Other specs of this phone include a 2,000mAh battery (which sounds pretty good for a 4 inch display), and 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM with an option of using a microSD of up to 32GB.

This phone will have a tough competitor to compete with – the Micromax Ninja A89, which offers similar hardware at a slightly lower price tag. That apart, the phone itself looks good with the hardware and we would expect it to have better build quality than the Micromax. There is no official word from XOLO yet but given our track record with leaks, you can count on this one too.
