Micromax mobile, located in Gurgaon(Haryana), has became one of the premier smartphone manufacturing company in India and has provided a variety of features with its different devices launched. The Canvas series launched by the company adds a real value has added to the company’s portfolio.
The company has been continually bringing into the market some or the other Canvas smartphone which has become the company’s most selling devices from the past few months and the company’s flagship Smartphone Micromax A116 Canvas HD was the one from the same canvas series. The device has created ripples in the phone market as soon as it was released in February 2013 and from that time the device is in still in demand.
The best thing that can be observed in the company’s portfolio is that this company has always targeted different group of user with its every new launch for example Micromax A88 Canvas Music was launched considering the music lovers, Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle with stylus for the art lovers and Canvas HD 116 with performance concerned users. So today we are comparing Canvass doodle A111, the latest launch from the company, with its own most selling flagship device Micromax 116 Canvas HD.
Display and Processor
The size of display of A111 is 5.3 inches which is 0.3 inches larger than that of Micromax A116, which has a display size of 5.0 inches. The Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle has a capacitive multi touchscreen with 16M colors, whereas Micromax A116 has IPS LCD Capacitive multi touchscreen with same 16M colours but with screen protection.
Micromax A116 Canvas HD has a better display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels, compared to 480 x 854 pixels of Micromax A111. Similarly, the pixel density of A116 is 294 ppi is better than the pixel density of 185 ppi in Micromax A111.
From the performance front, the chipset used in Micromax A111 is Qualcomm MSM8225Q Snapdragon, whereas it is MTK MT6589 in A116. Both the Smartphones are powered by the same 1.2 GHz quad core processors but the GPU used in Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle is Mali-400MP. On the other hand, the graphics processor in Micromax A116 Canvas HD is PowerVR SGX544.
Camera and Memory
The camera resolutions of both the smartphones are similar as both have 8 MP cameras at the rear and front facing 2 MP cameras. The primary cameras of both the phones support image resolution of up to 3264 x 2448 pixels and both have features like autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, touch focus and face detection.
The video resolution in Micromax A111 is 640 x 480 pixels @30 fps whereas the video recording capabilities of Micromax A116 areat 720p @30fps and hence support recording of HD Videos of higher quality which look great on big TV screen.
The memory of both the Smartphones is same which is 4 GB but the user available memory out of 4 GB is less in A111 (1.22 GB) compared to 1.77 GB in Micromax A116. The external memory in both the phones is expandable up to 32 GB via microSD card. The RAM in Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle is only 512 MB where as Micromax A116 Canvas HD sports RAM of 1 GB.
Battery and Feature
Micromax A111 has a battery of Li-Ion of 2100mAh which is little powerful when compared to 2000mAh Li-on battery of Micromax A116 Canvas HD. The A111 has a stand-by time of up to 220 hours and a talk time of up to 6 hours and 30 minutes. Whereas Micromax A116 Canvas HD comes with a stand-by time of up to 174 hours and a talk-time of up to 5 hours.
Both the phones have almost the same additional features like SNS integration, Organizer, Document viewer, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, Youtube, Calendar, Google Talk, Voice memo/dial and Predictive text input. But the Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle has an additional feature of in-built EVERNOTE app for doodling as the name itself suggests.

Conclusion:
Micromax A111 has a price tag of Rs.12999 where as the MRP of Micromax A116 Canvas HD has MRP of Rs. 14499 INR . If you are not interested in Evernote for doodling on your device i will say, with the difference of about Rs.1500, Micromax A116 Canvas HD is better than Micromax A111 Canvas Doodle. The battery is little more powerful in A111 and has bigger display size which is about 0.3 inches larger than A116 but that should not make much difference as A116 has better RAM and superb display.
