Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

The build quality of LG Google Nexus 4 is one of the best we have seen, it has a unibody type of design and you have plastic on the edges and glass on the front and back with Gorilla Glass 2 protection on the front, but the glass in the front and back are finger print catchy. The design is good, the rounded edges gives a nice grip in hand and the phone is light at weight of 139 grams which makes it fairly portable and easy to carry with you. The form factor is good and very much comparable to the other sleek smartphones, comparing the thickness it may feel thick at 9.1 mm but feels solid in hands.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

The display on the phone is IPS LCD Plus display with quite high resolution and pixel density of 318, the viewing angles are good enough if not very wide on the phone display. The memory on board is 16Gb out of which around 12.92 Gb is available to the user to installing apps and storing data which is not too small but with time, it may not be enough and the device does have any support to expand the storage which is quite a disappointment and also the battery cant not be removed on this device. The battery backup was quite good as the phone lasted for more than one day during most of the days during our review, with heavy usage the battery backup is slightly less than one day.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI is stock android and smooth in operation and UI animations, we did not notice any lag on the UI. The benchmark performance scores are mentioned below. Gaming performance of the device is good, it can play almost any graphic intensive games provided you have storage space left on the device.

Benchmark Scores

  • Quadrant Standard Edition: 3756
  • Antutu Benchmark: 14674
  • Nenamark2: 59.8
  • Multi Touch: 10 point.

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound quality from the loudspeaker is loud and clear and through the in ear headphones is crisp and clear and music listening experience is good with good noise cancellation, it can play HD videos at resolution 720p and at 1080p without any lag. The navigation works on the device with assisted GPS support but the device may become slightly hot while using the device for navigation.

Conclusion and Price

LG Nexus 4 has decent hardware at the price of around Rs. 25,000 INR, as the 8GB version is not going to be available in india anytime soon, so if you are looking for a pure android experience with no UI glitches or lag you should go for this device, there are few limitations like non expandable memory and non removable battery which are major criteria for some of the users out there.
