Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Build quality of this phone is quite good with nice form factor and the quality of plastic used is good, the back cover is removable and has a matt finish which feels quite good in hands. The design seems to be inspired from another phone but it is now the same. The form factor is really good, having a 5 inch display we did not find it difficult to hold it with one hand or bulky to hold in hands or carry it around, it weighs around 150 grams which is comparable to the other phones in the same price bracket.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

The display is not the brightest we have seen but on the other it is crisp and clear in text formation with pretty good viewing angles and the best part is that it does not cause strain on your eyes. The device has 4 Gb internal memory out of which around 1.48 Gb is available, you also have the option to use SD card and internal memory as you can install apps on the SD card. The battery backup is good enough and lasted for more than one most of the times with moderate usage during our review.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI is almost stock android, we did not notice any customizations, you will get the stock android experience on this phone which is much better than customized UI which is sluggish on most of the android phones these days. The GPU on the device is Power VR SGX 544MP which is quote capable

Camera Performance

The 12mp camera at back performs quite good in day light and in low light its average. The front camera is good for video chat if not the best, below are some photo samples.

Sound, Video and Navigation

The sound quality is from the loudspeaker is loud enough and through headphones it is quite sharp and crisp but bass levels are not too good. This device supports playing both 720p and 1080p videos and does support navigation as well with the help of assisted GPS but make sure you enable GPS EPO Assistance and Assisted GPS under GPS satellite options.

Conclusion and Price

Wammy Passion Z seems to be on of the most affordable 1.2 smartphone with 1080p HD display as if now, it has all the required specs at a price of 14,990 like 1.2 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6589 processor, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 64GB and 12-megapixel rear camera it’s a close competitor to MMX a116 with better form factor and light weight. It may look like another device but its not exactly the same in design.
