CAMERA AND INTERNAL STORAGE

Volt 1000 tablet has similar camera features as in its predecessor phablet launched few months back. It has an 8MP primary camera and a 1.3 MP front camera for video calling, along with multi-shot, night vision and flash support (Although Swipe Fablet 9X has 2 Mp front camera). This is significantly more than what other manufacturers are offering in the same price range. The device has pretty standard internal memory of 4GB extendable up to 32 GB using a microSD card. The RAM capacity has been doubled to 1GB (swipe MTV volt had 512MB RAM).

PROCESSOR AND BATTERY BACKUP

Swipe MTV Volt 1000 is powered by a 1GHz dual core processor with ARM Cortex architecture, similar to all previous Swipe devices with MTK6577 dual core processor. The Operating System used is Android 4.1 jelly bean which is again standard in this range tablets. This Phablet has a 2850 mAh li-ion polymer battery which company claims will provide a talk time of 8 – 10 hours. Surprisingly Swipe has reduced the battery capacity from 3200 mAh (in Swipe MTV Volt) to 2850 mAh (in Swipe MTV Volt 1000). Although this will affect backup adversely it has also contributed to the reduced weight in the new device and made it easier to carry.

DISPLAY TYPE AND SIZE

The Swipe MTB Volt 1000 has a 6 inch screen with capacitive multi-touch screen and 854 x 480 pixels resolution, which gives you pixel density of 163 pixels per inches. This is again an average screen resolution. (Samsung Galaxy s3 has a resolution of 306 PPI)

CONNECTIVITY AND OTHER FEATURES

The Swipe TV Volt 1000 has good internet connectivity including WI-FI, 3G, EDGE and GPRS. It has a SIM slot (2G/3G) and supports Bluetooth 4.0. Swipe has reduced the weight this time to 186 grams from previous 239 g which makes this Phablet much lighter and easier to carry. It comes with an exclusive inbuilt TV player which offers on the go access to contents from MTV.

COMPARISON

Swipe MTV Volt 1000 priced at 11, 999 is cheaper than its predecessor (Swipe MTV VOLT Priced at 12,399 INR) and comes with an enhanced RAM of 1 GB but reduced battery capacity (from 3200 mAh to 2850mAh). Last swipe tablet was competing against Beyond Phablet III, with its major drawback being the 512 MB ram against 1 GB RAM of Beyond P III. This drawback has been eliminated in this new device. Although the battery capacity has been marginally reduced its still higher than that of Beyond P III (2500 mAh). Lets compare it to other Phablets in this price range.

As compared to Karbonn A 30(11,100 INR), Which has a 5.9 inch screen, Swipe MTV Volt 1000 has a better RAM capacity (1GB vs 512 MB). Other key specs are almost similar.

Spice Stellar Pinnacle Mi -530 (13999 INR) has a shorter screen size of 5.3- inches but with a much better screen resolution of 540 x 900 pixels(~ 208 PPI). The device employs a slightly better 1.2 GHz dual core processor and Android 4.0 O.S. The battery capacity rated at 2550 mAh (claims talk time of more than 4 hours) is poorer as compared to Swipe MTV VOLT 1000.

CONCLUSION

Swipe has definitely improved upon its previous Phablet by doubling the RAM capacity of this device to 1GB. Though the battery capacity has been marginally reduced, it still claims a similar talk time of 8 -10 hours. Their are other Phablets with similar screen size and better specs (like Samsung Galaxy mega 6.3 and huawei acend mate)  but you will have to cough up more than double amount for them.
