Samsung today launched Samsung galaxy 4 mini in India priced at 27,990 INR . The body style and design is similar to s4 except it is smaller though not sleeker. This phone sure has the looks of the high end phone, lets take a look and find out to what extend the specifications have been minimized in Galaxy Mini.
This phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Dual core processor clocked at a speed of 1.7 GHz and comes with Aadreno305 GPU to cater to your Graphic intensive needs. This chipset is backed by a 1.5 GB RAM along with an internal storage memory of 8 GB, of which 5 GB will be available to users. Internal storage is expendable up to 64 GB using a microSD card. The phone employs latest Android 4.2.2 jelly bean operating system.
Galaxy Mini has a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels which gives you a pixel density of 256 ppi (Samsung Galaxy s4 has 441 ppi). The colors are still quite vibrant because of Super AMOLED display and you will get darker blacks, but you might see some text fringing when there is high contrast in background owing to the pentile display.
Samsung has also cut back a little on the camera, to make it a mid range phone. You will get a primary autofocus camera of 8 MP with LED flash and features like panorama, HDR, Face detection and touch focus. It is capable of 1080p video recording at 30 fps. You also get a secondary camera of 1.9 MP for video calling.
Connectivity features include GPRS, EDGE, HSDA (42 Mbps), Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC, Infrared port and microUSB 2.0. It has body dimensions of 124 x61.3 x8.9 and weighs 107 Grams. It sports a Li- Ion Battery rated at 1900 mAh which will give you talk time of 12 hrs and stand by time of up to 300 hrs. SAR value of this phone is quite low at 0.33 W/Kg (permissible limit is up to 1.6 W/Kg) and thus it will appeal to those conscious of radiation exposure.
Pricing might be a little hard to swallow at 27,990 INR for many consumers specially when various manufactures are offering good quality phones with better specifications at competitive prices
