Gionee has finally started rolling out over the air updates for their highly successful Elife E3 smartphone. Users of this phone can avail this latest facility if they have 3G/2G internet or WiFi enabled on their Elife E3 devices.
The OTA brings quite a few enhancements with the current update. These include an array of camera updates, including Picture Clear (background), Best Picture, 12 Levels of Beauty Effects, MAV (lets to click photos through multiple angles). Apart from the camera, the Game Zone and Weather apps get updated as well. Some new applications, namely du battery’, GioneeXender come along with this update, which also offers new themes as well as online wallpapers.
The Elife E3 [ Read Full Review ] did impress many with the build quality. The phone comes with decent specifications which include a powerful quad core processor, the MT6589 running at 1.2GHz, 1GB of RAM, dual SIM, etc. One thing which we particularly liked about this phone was the availability of 16GB of ROM. The 8MP camera on the phone was found to be above average as well.
This really puts Gionee among the very few manufacturers from India or China to provide OTA updates. Gionee has a few phones in the pipeline, like the Elife E5, Elife E6, etc. which are bound to give tough competition to domestic vendors. We say, if Gionee keep moving ahead at this rate, it won’t take a miracle to put them ahead of domestic manufacturers in terms of sales.
