Smart NaMo team has announced yet another smartphone Saffron A209 in their NaMo Series, named so in honor of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. Earlier the company announced a Quad core Handset and 6.5 Inch Phablet which are expected to be available by next month. Saffron A209 priced at 6500 INR, unlike the other two devices will be competing in the budget Android phone segment.
This Dual SIM phone will be powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm 8225 processor. This processor is backed by a 512 MB RAM which will be sufficient for moderate usage. The internal storage capacity of this device is 4 GB but you will get a SD card of 8 GB free with this device which should amount to sufficient storage for most users, however you can further extend it to 32 GB using a microSD card. On the software front this phone comes equipped with Android 4.1 jelly bean which is above average in this price range devices.
Saffron A209 comes with a 3.97 Inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 480 x 800 (WVGA) pixels which will give you an above average pixel density of around 233 ppi. The IPS screen will ensure good brightness and wide viewing angles.
The camera specifications of this device have not yet been specified by the manufacturers, but a primary camera with flash and a front camera for those interested in video calling are visible in the official pics of this smartphone. Other sensors include motion sensor and proximity sensor.
The battery capacity of Saffron A209 is 2000 mAh. Coupled with a single core processor and 4 inch display, this is expected to carry enough juice to carry you through the day. Something which was gravely disappointing in the 6.5 inch phablet announced last week by the same team. Other connectivity features of this Dual SIM dual standby device include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, EDGE, GPRS, 3G, WAP and a 3.5 mm audio connector.
Considering the hardware specifications this phone has better hardware specifications than other budget phones we saw recently including Videocon A24 and Intex Cloud X3, but is also priced higher as compared to these phones. This will suffice for general purpose usage and provides a more viable option for those looking for budget phones to provide with basic android experience. Saffron A209 will be available in various colors like black, white, blue, pink and green and is priced at 6500 INR.
