iBall Launches ‘Hybrid Dual Pendrive’, Connects To Computers And Phones Without the Need Of OTG Cable

iBall, a popular domestic manufacturer, yesterday released a new USB storage device which connects to both, PCs and mobile phones/tablets (with OTG support, obviously) without the need of additional cables/adapters, which justifies the ‘Hybrid’ part of the title.

Traditional pen drives come with just one USB connector on one side. To be able to use those with smartphones, an additional adapter, known as an OTG cable is required in addition. The OTG cable is actually a USB to micro USB converter.

The device comes only in 2 variants as of now, and weighs just 10 grams. The iBall Hybrid Dual Pendrive is available in 8GB and 16GB, with the devices being priced at 599 INR and 799 INR, respectively.

We do think this is a very simple but smart innovation from the manufacturer. OTG isn’t really popular in India as of now, but users who do happen to use the feature on their phones and tablets will definitely breathe a sigh of relief.
