After a few leaks we saw last month BlackBerry 9720 is now officially announced and might soon find its way to India. The New BlackBerry phone comes with the Signature QWERTY keyboard, a dedicated BBM key and BB OS7.1 . Last Phone from BlackBerry in India was BlackBerry Q5. Let’s take a look at what this phone, which promises to take your smartphone experience to the next level, has to offer.

This phone comes with a 2.8 Inch screen with 480 x 360 pixel resolution thus giving you a pixel density of 246 ppi which accounts for a good Clarity Display. The screen type is TFT LCD with 24 bit colors. As this phone is not meant for hardcore gaming, this screen should prove apt for the desired purposes.

It will be powered by an 806 MHz Marvel Tavor MG1 processor backed by a moderate RAM capacity of 512 MB. The internal memory is a meager 512 MB, but this can be extended further using microSD card support. Compared to the android phones we see trending in the market today, this chipset is nothing to be excited about. However, Phones from BlackBerry aim at providing you with a convenient hazel free, efficient and fast means for Networking and this chipset is capable of supporting those features.

BlackBerry 9720 has a 5 MP EDOF camera which most of us refer to as fixed-focus camera, which are not very good with Macro shots. LED Flash is also present for photography under low light conditions.

Battery capacity is 1450 mAh which will provide you with a Talk time of 7 hrs and an ample 18 days on Standby. BlackBerry 9720 is 12 mm thick and weighs 120 g. It comes with a Led notification light in the front. Connectivity features include 3G HSDPA 7.2Mbps, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth V2.1, GPS and aGPS.

BlackBerry has been struggling to grab market share, especially in the emerging markets and this phone too like Blackberry Q5 seems to be an attempt at that. There is no word on pricing of this phone yet but we expect this phone to be launched in India soon. We will keep you updated about any new details that surface regarding price and availability. Following is a promotional video highlighting networking aspects of BlackBerry 9720.
