Videocon A42 with 1.2 GHz Dual core and Android 4.2 at Rs. 7490

Videocon has launched yet another smartphone in India today. After recently launched Videocon A52 and Videocon A24, Videocon is back with another budget android phone Videocon A42, Priced at Rs. 7490. The phone is priced in the competitive Budget android phone range and will give head n competition to devices like Lava Iris 454 and Micromax Canvas Music A88.

The display of this device is 4.5 Inch in size and sports a FWVGA 854 x 480 pixel resolution. This gives you decent pixel density of 218 ppi which is less compared to Lava Iris 454 with qHD resolution. the display is well above average at this price range.

Videocon A42 is powered by a 1.2 GHz Dual Core processor and is Equipped with Android 4.2.2 Jelly bean Operating system. The RAM capacity is 512 MB which is pretty standard at this price range. The internal storage capacity is 4 GB which can be further extended to 32 GB using MicroSD support. The chipset specifications are what everyone is offering at this price range and will suffice for low to moderate usage.

The primary camera has a 5 MP sensor (with flash) and a front camera of 1.3 MP is also present for video calling. Again Lava Iris 454 comes equipped with slightly better 8MP camera, however the difference won’t be that conspicuous for practical purposes.


The battery capacity is 1700 mAh which is pretty decent and will carry you through the day. It comes with various Preloaded Apps like Saavn, Hungama & Fun Zone. Other features include Dual SIM Dual Standby, 3.75G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi , GPRS and EDGE.

Over all Videocon has come up with a good product which offers you good value for money. The competitive pricing make it a more viable option over other phones like Micromax Canvas Lite A92 and Micromax Canvas Music A88. It comes in two colors, white chrome and Black and is priced at Rs. 7490.
