Commenting on the launch, Sushmita Das, Country Manager – India at Kobian Pte Ltd said mTAB Star will compete and stand strong as the ultimate choice for purchase this festive season across the consumers for its light weight and advanced features at attractive cost. It has all the required latest features to enjoy work and play. It has been well designed and developed to address the increasing demand for stylish products in the market.

mTAB Star comes with a 7 inch Display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. In the budget tablet range we generally see either 480 x 800 pixel resolution or 1024 x 600 pixel resolution, mTAB Star has opted for the better one. The operating system is Android 4.1 Jelly bean, which is above average as far as budget tablets go.

The processor is pretty standard one. This phone comes with 1 GHz dual-core MediaTek MT6577 processor. This processor will be accompanied by a moderate 512 MB RAM similar to what other manufacturers are offering. Internal memory is 4 GB which can be further extended to 32 GB using a MicroSD card.

As we have seen with most tablets, manufacturers just don’t put the effort as far as camera specifications are concerned. Reason being most people are not very comfortable using their 7 Inch Tabs to clip pictures. This tablet comes with a 2 MP rear camera with LED flash and a VGA front camera for occasional video calling.

The battery capacity is good at 3000 mAh which can be expected to last around 6 hrs with moderate usage. This tablet comes with 3G connectivity Via SIM card and built in speakers. Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 2.0 and 3.5mm audio jack. It weighs 320 grams and is only 12 mm thick.

The pricing of this tablet will determine whether it is a good buying option or not. We have 7 inch tablets like HCL ME U3 with Android jelly bean and similar specifications for as low as  Rs. 5,499 and we have tablets like Simmtronics XPAD Mini with Quad core available for 9,999 INR, both of which account for a commendable option that will appeal to many people.
