HTC Desire 601 and Desire 300 Unveiled

HTC has unveiled two new smartphones for the market – the Desire 601, which was codenamed ‘Zara’, and the Desire 300 which is an entry to mid range Android smartphone. The devices will be available next month onward. However, there is no word on pricing as yet.

Speaking of the specifications on the devices, the Desire 300 comes with a 4.3 inch touchscreen with a WVGA resolution of 800×480 pixels. The device will be powered by a dual core processor clocked at 1 GHz along with 512MB of RAM. The phone will have 4GB of ROM with an expansion slot that you can use for expansion up to 32GB.

The imaging department on the device will be handled by a 5MP rear camera paired with a VGA unit. The phone will have a 1650mAh battery.

Coming to the Desire 601 aka Zara, the phone will again come with a dual core processor, but a 1.4 GHz one. This processor will come paired with 1GB of RAM. The Desire 601 will feature a slightly larger screen measuring 4.5 inches, which will come with a qHD resolution of 960×540 pixels.


The device will feature 8GB of ROM along with a microSD slot that will be used to expand the storage of the device up to 32GB.

On the imaging front, the phone will feature the same camera set as the Desire 300, in a 5MP rear unit and a VGA front unit.

The phone will feature a 2100mAh battery.

This is what Peter Chou, CEO of HTC Corporation said on the launch , “For the last 17 years HTC has challenged the mobile industry to develop innovations that change the way in which people use their mobile phone. Now we’re not only changing the way people view the mid-range and entry-level market but setting the bar even higher when it comes to our premium devices and capabilities.”

As mentioned earlier, the availability of the device is said to begin next month. No pricing details out yet, for which we might have to wait a bit.
