Samsung Galaxy Trend Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Samsung had recently announced that it is planning of launching to budget android devices in India soon. Looks like one of them, Samsung Galaxy Trend S7392, is already here priced at 8,490 INR. This phone comes with moderate features and the trusted brand name of Samsung, which is the most selling brand in the Indian smartphone market. Let’s see if this phone packs enough ammunition to satisfy your budget android needs.

Camera and Internal Storage

This phone comes with a 3 MP primary camera and no camera at the front. The digital camera will provide you with 2 X zoom along with other standard camera features and QCIF video recording at 30 fps. The front camera is rarely used but its presence will be missed in a device that costs above 8,000 INR.

The Internal storage is standard 4 GB although Samsung has not yet specified how much of it will be actually available at the users end. A part of this storage will be used to house Operating system and preloaded apps. The Internal storage can be expanded to 32 GB using a microSD card.

Processor and Battery

The processor is 1 GHz processor, although earlier 1.2 GHz Dual core processor was reported. This is a little disappointing at this price range. Manufacturers like XOLO are offering Quad core processors under 10,000 INR price range and in this scenario a single core processor at 8,500 INR doesn’t seem like a good bargain. This processor will be backed by 512 MB of RAM which is pretty standard in this price range.

The battery capacity is 1500 mAh and this will give you a standby time of around 350 hrs. Samsung has not specified the amount of Talk time you will be able to squeeze out of this battery but we don’t expect it to be of grave concern.

Display and Features

The display is 4 Inch in size and sports WVGA 480 x 800 pixel resolution. This is strictly average and we have seen bigger and better displays from smartphones like Micromax Canvas Fun A76 at a similar price range. The display might appeal to those who have small fingers and don’t prefer 5 Inch large size displays.

This phone comes with Android 4.0 ICS operating system which is also quite primitive these days. Most of the budget android phones released in the past one month feature Android jelly bean operating system to provide for a good basic Android experience.

Looks and Connectivity

The phone features signature Samsung rounded looks and will be available in Black and white colors. The speakers are present on the back panel on the right hand side of the rectangular camera casing with rounded corners.

The connectivity features include Dual SIM support, WiFi dirrect, Bluetooth v 3 with A2DP. The absence of 3G will be a deal breaker for many.

Comparison

In the same price range many domestic manufacturers will offer you better specifications. This phone will be competing with phones like XOLO Q600, XOLO Q700, Sony Xperia E, Videocon A42, Micromax Canvas Fun A76 and Micromax Canvas Fun A74
