Zen has been teasing its new Ultraphone and its Amazing launch on its facebook page for some time now and this new phone from Zen, Zen UltraPhone Amaze FHD which is an upgraded version of very popular Zen Ultraphone 701 HD (Full Review), has now been launched and is available for purchase on snapdeal for Rs. 17,999.
We now know that the two gorillas we saw in the teasers meant that the new Zen Ultraphone’s 5 inch Full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel IPS LCD display is protected by Corning gorilla glass two. The display also boost of OGS technology which reduces the air gap in between the display layers for more responsive and brighter display.
This phone will be powered by MT6589T or 1.5 GHz Quad core Turbo processor from Mediatek which we have seen in a series of Full HD devices like Micromax Canvas Turbo, Gionee Elife E6 and Intex Aqua i7. The RAM capacity however remains half at 1 GB which is slightly disappointing. The Good thing which makes it stand apart from the camera in chipset department is that the 16 GB of Onboard storage is expandable to 64 GB with the help of MicroSD card, something the rivals are not offering.
The Primary camera is of 13 MP and enjoys LED flash support. The lens used is a 5 layer lens which will provide significant improvement in image quality. The Secondary camera is of 8 MP and this will enhance the self portrait functionality and won’t make much difference in Video calls which is the main purpose of front camera.
The battery capacity is 2050 mAh and we expect this to deliver similar back up of 6 to 8 hours of talk time and around 200 hours of standby time which we have seen in other recent FHD devices. The good thing is that the battery is most probably removable, but we still have to verify that part. The Phone supports Dual SIM (WCDMA+ GSM) and all standard connectivity features including, 3G, Bluetooth, GPS with AGPS support etc.
We must say that Full HD experience on an OGS screen will be enjoyable while watching Multimedia content, but the Micromax Canvas Turbo with extra 1 GB of RAM will give more boost in performance for those who love high end gaming. More over there is only 2,000 INR difference in price. Zen has also given body design due consideration and this phone comes with a textured back cover and Light Magnesium Frame. You can buy this phone from Snapdeal for Rs. 17,999. You will also get a smart flip cover in the box along with this phone.
