Smart NaMo Saffron One VS Micromax Canvas Turbo Comparison Review

Smart NaMo Saffron One (Full Review) has finally arrived and tough it was announced way back and is way too late, it is available for purchase from Snapdeal as of now. Many other Full HD MT6589T devices have arrived since Smart NaMo was announced couple of months back and Micromax’s Offering Canvas Turbo (Full Review) has managed to garner enough attention. Let’s compare these phones to know which one will suit you better.

Display and Processor

Both of these phones have similar 5 inch display with full HD 1080 p resolution which gives you 441 Pixels per inches and as we have seen, MT6589T chipset cannot support full HD resolution very well while playing Graphic intensive games, but the display will be very crisp and enticing while watching videos, using general Apps and reading text. The viewing angles and colors were pretty good for both of these smartphones.

Processor again is same on both of these smartphones. The 1.5 GHz Quad core turbo processor, MT6589T, from MediaTek comes with PowerVR SGX 544 GPU. The 16 GB variant on Smart NaMo has only 1 GB backing up this processor and the 32 GB variant has 2 GB RAM. Micromax Canvas Turbo on the other hand will provide you with 2 GB RAM. The gaming performance on both of these phones wasn’t up to the mark but they performed pretty good with respect to other tasks.

Camera and Memory

Again the camera features of both of these phones are similar. Both of these phones sport a 13 MP autofocus camera at the back and a 5 MP fixed focus camera at the front. The Micromax Canvas Turbo comes with some extra features in the camera UI which include, Cinemagraph, 360 degree panorama and Object eraser. You can know more about these features on our Micromax Canvas Turbo quick review.

The Internal memory of Micromax Canvas Turbo is a limitation at 16 GB and it is not extendable. You can however connect a flash drive via OTG support which is supported on this phone and that allows you to carry the Full HD data along with you which you would like to watch on your full HD display. Up to 64 GB MicroSD support on Saffron 1 makes it a winner.

The Smart NaMo saffron 1 will give you a 32 GB internal storage option, but that variant will cost you extra money. The Saffron One only carries 1 GB RAM in the 16 GB variant which makes it less palatable with respect to canvas Turbo. Saffron one also lacks OTG Support.

Battery and Features

The battery capacity of smart NaMo Saffron One is 3050 mAh which is more like what should be there on a full HD display device. The Micromax Canvas Turbo sports a 2000 mAh battery which is disappointing. However the difference in the back up wasn’t as much as it seems on paper. Both of the phones could reach 1 day mark but Smart NaMo did it with ease and you can easily extract significantly more usage from it which is a huge advantage.

Both of these phones come with Android 4.2 Jelly bean operating system and Micromax Canvas Turbo comes with series of gesture features which includes all those which we saw in Micromax Canvas 4 like Blow air to unlock, Video pinning, etc and some more. The Smart NaMo Saffron One unit which we received came with Superuser access, which means it was rooted and that allows you with all sorts of new features and access to various Apps. It will also give you option for updating to higher Android versions over WiFi.

Conclusion

Both of these phones will give you good value for money and are not meant for high end and moderate gamers. The after sales services of Micromax, though notorious have been around for a while and have matured over the years. The Smart NaMo which is relatively new won’t have a well established network. The 1 GB extra RAM along with improved and 8.7 mm sleek metallic body design gives Canvas Turbo an edge over Smart NaMo Saffron One.
