iBall Andi 4Di+ Quick Review, Price and Comparison

iBall brings the 4Di brand to forth again with a rejuvenated device, the 4Di+. The device now comes with a 1.3GHz dual core processor and a price tag of 6,399 INR. Will the iBall Andi 4Di+ be able to compete against devices from the like of XOLO, Micromax, Gionee? Keep reading while we analyze the internals of this new phone!

Camera and Internal Storage

Exactly like almost every other device in this price range, the iBall Andi 4Di+ comes with a 5MP rear camera and a 0.3MP (VGA) front shooter. Keeping the device on par with competitors is the LED flash, while the front VGA unit can be used to video calls. You should be satisfied with the performance of the 5MP unit on the device, it will be on par with any other phone in this segment. The VGA, unit which will hardly be used, should suffice for outdoor video calling, while indoor quality might suffer with low framerate as well as poor picture quality.

As is the norm, the device comes with 4GB, which we’re sure you would’ve expected. However, the device will come with a microSD card that will allow you to expand storage by up to 32GB, which should probably be more than required since it is not expected of users to load a device with a screen as small as 4 inches with multimedia.

Processor and Battery

The phone comes with the latest dual core processor from MediaTek, the MT6572 which operates at 1.3GHz per core. This processor, by far, is the best dual core for budget phones like the iBall Andi 4Di+ and offers decent processing capabilities. Along with this dual core processor, there’s 512MB of RAM which should make the phone a decent performer all round, i.e., your casual games, email, chat, etc. apps will be handled without any glitch/lag most times.

The phone impresses yet again with a 1700mAh battery which is pretty impressive considering the price range it features in. You will get more than one full day of usage if you go easy, and one day on an average.

Display and Features

The phone comes with a 4 inch screen which has become a benchmark for devices like this one. The 4 inch screen features a resolution of 480×800 pixels, i.e., WVGA which churns out a pretty respectable pixel density of 233ppi. You will enjoy using the device while reading notes, browsing the web, etc. However, you will be left with something to desire while indulging in activities like watching videos, gaming, etc. where you would enjoy greater pixel density and a larger screen.

The device isn’t as heavily loaded as other higher-priced phones in the market. It comes with Android v4.2 preinstalled, which is impressive.

Looks and Connectivity

The device comes in a candy bar form with not a lot to the design. There are better looking phones in the market, but maybe iBall decided to not be very radical and came up with a design which is very neutral and hard to hate.

The phone will come with the usual connectivity set, including WiFi, Bluetooth, A-GPS, and 3G.

Comparison

There are quite a lot of competitors to this device. Surprisingly, the low-cost dual-core category in India has gained momentum again and we are starting to see more and more phones crop up each day.

Phones like XOLO A500S, Gionee P2, Micromax Canvas Fun A63 and Intex Cloud Y4 will be seen as direct competitors.

Conclusion

The device is very impressive on paper with a good enough battery and potent processor. How well it is built, i.e., the build quality remains to be seen, but at an MRP of 6,399 INR, we foresee this device selling well, since phones like the A500S sell for about 400-500 INR more. Plus, with time you might be able to get the phone for somewhere around 5,900-6,000 INR, thus increasing the value for money on offer. We would give the iBall Andi 4Di+ a thumbs up!
