Google Nexus 5 VS Gionee Elife E7 Comparison Review

Google Nexus 5 (Quick Review) launched a few weeks back was adored because it offered the best in business Snapdragon 800 SoC at a exceptionally discounted price. The Gionee Elife E7 (Quick Review) which was launched yesterday is the first Chinese phone offering Snapdragon 800 processor in India and that too in the same price bracket. Gionee is a big brand name in China and with Elife E7 the company plans on going Global. Let’s compare these two devices head to head to better know which one will be a better choice for you.

Display and Processor

The Gionee Elife E7 comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display based on One Glass Solution (OGS) technology. The display sports 1080p Full HD resolution which implies no pixilation. The Google Nexus 5 on the other hand sports a 5 inch IPS LCD display with 1080p Full HD resolution.

It depends on Individual taste as to where you draw the line. If you are among those people who like their smartphone displays to be extra large, Gionee Elife E7 will serve your purpose better. Google has carefully calibrated the display for right amount of color saturation. In our brief time spent with Gionee Elife E7 we found the display to be pretty good.

The Processor employed in both of these smartphones is MSM8974 Snapdragon 800 2.26 GHz quad core processor which is backed by Adreno 320 GPU and is extremely snappy. The Gionee Elife E7 with 32 GB RAM comes with 3GB RAM and thus it has an edge over Nexus 5 with 2 GB RAM. However, 2 GB RAM is more than enough for most practical purposes and high end gaming.

Camera and Memory

Gionee claims that the custom made 16 MP camera module is the most sensitive in the world. The camera has a Largan M8 lens with 1/ 2.3 inch sensor. The pixel size is quite large at 1.34 micrometer and this means, sensor will be capable of absorbing more light under low light conditions. The front 8 MP camera is no slouch either. Reportedly it has the same camera module present in iPhone 5.

The Nexus 5 camera has been one of its major limitation. The 8 MP camera comes with Optical Image stabilization and has received mixed reviews. The camera works above average in most situations. The camera performance is not very consistent.

The internal memory of both these smartphones is similar. Both of these smartphones come in 16 GB and 32 GB non extendable storage variants. The 32 GB variant of Gionee Elife E7 can be purchased for almost the same price as that of 16 GB variant of Nexus 5

Battery and Features

Both of these smartphones are not particularly impressive in this department. The Gionee Elife E7 comes with a 2500 mAh battery where as Nexus 5 comes with a 2300 mAh battery. Both of these smartphones are capable of giving you one day moderate usage.

The Google Nexus 5 comes with latest Android Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is the latest flavor of Android and is also recourse efficient and trendy. The Android skin of Gionee Elife E7 is Gionee’s own Amigo 2.0 UI and we particularly don’t like it as much. If not laggy, it is not as Snappy as LG G2 skin on Snapdragon 800. The Software is the part which is very important for most quotidian users. The Google Nexus 5 will have a great advantage in this regard.

Conclusion

Both of these smartphones offer great specifications at respective price points. Snapdragon 800 chipset at as low as 26,999 is tempting. It is a tough call between the two smartphones. if you ignore the fact the Gionee is slightly cheaper, Nexus 5 will offer you Android 4.4 KitKat operating system(a huge advantage over Amigo UI) and if an effective camera is higher on your priority list, Gionee will be the phone for you.
