Xolo Q800 Android 4.2 Jelly bean OTA Update Finally Arrives

Xolo has finally rolled out the much awaited Android 4.2 Jelly bean update for its popular smartphone Xolo Q800. Fans have always been pestering OEM for latest android updates and delays regarding the same, as is evident from the fact that couple of days back tier one OEM HTC tried to silence angry fans by providing detailed infographic explaining the tedious process of OTA updates.

The Xolo Q800 was launched in March this year and sports Android 4.1 jelly bean operating system out of the box. With the Android 4.2 jelly beam update you can’t expect dramatic change in UI (unlike in KitKat update), But you can enjoy some new features like multiple lock screens with widgets, slightly revamped camera app, wireless display and security enhancements.

The Xolo Q800 is powered by Mediatek’s MT6589M SoC which packs 1.2 GHz Quad core processor. The 4.5 inch IPS LCD display of this smartphone bears qHD resolution. The 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage and 2100 mAh battery makes Xolo Q800 a dominant device in the sub 10K price range.

According to the trusted source for Micromax Leaks , MMXNewscaster, Micromax will soon update most of its popular Canvas series smartphones to Android 4.4 KitKat and that is worth the envy from Xolo fans. Wicked leaks has already started rolling out Android KitKat update for Wammy Passion Z+. It is very unlikely that KitKat update will be available for this phone.

The update will roll out as an Over the Air (OTA) Update. You can read our tutorial to know more about OTA updates and how to install them.

  1. Hey guys,

There is a new official update for this phone. It will upgrade your OS to 4.2.1.

    Enhancements which I noticed:
    1. Music:- Music is awesome crystal clear now.
    2. Xolo Power:- Now no need to use any 3rd party app for maximizing battery life. Xolo Power is included and it also shows how many CPU are working currently.
    3. Xolo Security Support:- Anti theft and remote locking
    4. Lock screen:- now there is support for more than one lock screen and there are options for customization as well like read messages or mails without unlocking it.
    5. Vertical space has been increased for widgets on screens. Now you can have only four horizontal spacing for widgets or icons which is quite decent.
    6. Fonts has become more smooth.
    7. Minor change in maps and you get one touch navigation and local
    8. Dialer and Messaging background color has been improved.
    9. Contacts profile pics come on whole screen while calling.
    10. Few widgets has been added like clock.
    11. Notification bas has been changed.
    12. Facebook has been removed from the package, now you have to install through play store.
    13. The best thing I kept for last, huge improvement in Camera features. New features has been introduced like: Panorama shot, Best shot, Face detection, smiley shot etc.
    14. There are few minor changes in overall look and feel.

The best part, even after this update the phone runs butter smooth. After update I got the same pace for which q800 is popular.

Thanks to XOLO Developers and enjoy your phone..
