Huawei Ascend D1 Quick Review, Price and Comparison

Huawei Ascend D1 was first introduced in 2012 and recently started selling in India with a price tag of Rs 10,999. The phone offers good value for money at the respective price range with features most tier 1 manufacturers won’t offer at this price range. Let’s discuss where it stands in India Market today.

Camera and Internal Storage

The primary camera of this phone has an 8 MP sensor which is standard at this price range. The autofocus camera is capable of Full HD video recording at 30fps. The camera is supported by Dual LED flash for low light photography. The front camera of 1.3 MP is capable of 720 p recording and thus can be used for high definition video chat.

Internal Storage of 8 GB is most you can expect at this price range and that is exactly what Ascend D1 delivers. Out of 8 GB 5.8 GB will be available at users end. MicroSD expansion for up to 32 GB is also supported. The Phone also supports USB OTG feature and that will allow you to directly view bulky multimedia contents from your Flash drives while on the move.

Processor and Battery

The processor employed is Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP 4460 Dual core processor clocked at 1.5 GHz with PowerVR SGX540 GPU clocked at 384 MHz. The processor is based on 45nm process technology and has Cortex A9 based a core which makes it less power efficient but powerful enough. The RAM capacity of 1 GB is above average and will provide with smooth multitasking.

The Battery capacity is 1800 mAh which will provide you with a decent 400 hours of standby time and 10 hours 30 minutes of talk time. The battery will comfortably last one day with moderate usage.

Display and Features

The display is 4.5 inches in size and sports 1280 x 720 HD resolution which gives it pixel density of 326 ppi. The display will be sharp and you won’t notice any pixilation. Again, an HD IPS LCD display is more than what you can expect at this price range and the display leaves nothing to complain about at least on paper.

The Phone runs on Android 4.0 Operating system which finds a place on only 17 percent of Android devices worldwide and is fast growing obsolete. Of course you can update your phone to Jelly bean or higher but you will have to root your device and that’s not a task for quotidian user.
