Panasonic EZ240 and EZ180 feature phones at Rs. 1,790 and Rs. 1,350

Panasonic India has today stepped in the Mobile arena with the launch of two new feature phones – EZ240 and EZ180. The phones have been priced at Rs. 1,790 and Rs. 1,350 respectively. The company recently stopped working on Smartphones in Japan, where it had a strong hold, to focus on feature phone market. The reason was weak sales of smartphones in Japan and a huge market for feature phones. The conditions in India are also ripe for this strategy.

Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India expressed “With these new offerings, Panasonic is focusing on expanding beyond the metros and delivering a remarkable mobile experience to the Indian mass consumers in tier II & tier III cities. This launch is a testimony to the company’s focus in reaching out to these markets which are increasingly price-sensitive perfectly matching to our consumers’ needs for affordable solutions.”

Panasonic EZ240 & EZ180 offer sufficient battery life, Hindi support and security features like mobile tracker, security Inbox and application privacy which is something you won’t see in most feature phones.

Panasonic wants to target young consumers with the launch of these affordable feature phones in India. The company is already selling budget Android phones like Panasonic T11 in India and the addition of feature phones to its portfolio is a smart move which will help Panasonic penetrate further in Indian Mobile market.
