Jolla has been selling its devices in Europe for few months now and now the company has announced its plans to upgrade its Sailfish Operating system and expand its reach to Russia, India and Hong Kong. Jolla also mentioned that by March, Jolla O.S. will be available to install on some selected Android devices as well.
According to Jolla the next OS update will bring along “improved performance, extended landscape support, lots of visual improvements, lots of new camera functionalities, enhancements to the Jolla store, new general settings” along with other bug fixes for stability.
Jolla is a product from a team of Ex- Nokia employees and is based on MeeGo software, which Nokia abandoned after it switched to Microsoft Windows platform. Last MeeGo device was Nokia N9. Jolla believes that it will carve a niche among users who like to flash their ROMs with customs ROMs like Cynogenmod.
The phone is not expect to be priced in the budget segment and its hard to say how it will fair in Indian market. We are eager to try our hands on the new software and hope that it will be a worthy successor of Nokia N6.
